I had before a bad experience with some dealership in the area but Shelton GMC provided top notch customer service. Appointment was easy to make. papers & contracts of leasing a car was explained clearly. Erik the salesman very courteous, friendly and helpful & %100 customer service in taking care & valued the customers. Good Coffee! Waiting room is comfortable and every part of the garage is very clean and neat, very professional!
BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT: Dealer detail specialist damaged my newly-purchased GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali after I completed the purchasing and financing paperwork. Dealership is currently repairing the vehicle. Recommend buyers do not sign anything before car is clean and ready to drive off the lot.
I chose this dealer after spending several weeks reviewing the specific make and model of truck. I had test driven similar vehicles at other dealerships prior to selecting Shelton. Once settled on a vehicle, I chose this dealership because they had a vehicle in stock that met my desired requirements. I visited the dealership on Saturday, and indicated I wanted to purchase the vehicle. This was late on Saturday afternoon, and the salesman indicated that because their detail specialist was not in that day, I would have to wait until Monday to pick up the vehicle.
I returned Monday afternoon at approx. 3:10 p.m. When I arrived, I notices the truck had not yet been cleaned, but I did a quick walk around before entering the dealership (it was parked in the same spot I left it when I test drove it Saturday). My salesman was expecting me, and we began drumming up the purchase and trade-in paperwork. After about an hour and a half, I was signing documents to purchase the vehicle. My salesman was courteous and overall an excellent experience, but after I signed the paperwork, he informed me that several other vehicles were in line to be detailed, and it may take some time before mine would go through. I was not in a rush, and didn't mind waiting.
At about 6:15 p.m. my salesman went to check on the truck, and reluctantly informed me that the truck was not ready for pickup, because of damage that occurred while the truck was in line to be cleaned/detailed. The driver door handle and the rear driver's side door both had dents and wrinkles consistent with hitting the door handle while opening the doors, or something brushing up against the side of the body. My salesman apologized and put me in a rental car while the dealership would fix the door. I'm currently waiting on the vehicle, and will take pictures to compare the damage before and after the repairs are made.
Overall experience:
Sales - Very good, salesman was courteous, friendly, outgoing, and seemed sincere when the damage occurred, and informed me immediately once he found out about it. My only complaint is that the salesman knew I was coming in to purchase the truck, why didn't they have the vehicle cleaned before I arrived?
Service - Detail department needs significant improvement. Damage to door-handle was unacceptable. Will update review when repairs are complete, but will not give more than 3 stars for this dealer. Awful way to leave a dealership after 3 hours of waiting after being excited to drive home a new GMC.
Anyone considering a vehicle from this dealer SHOULD DEMAND THE CAR CLEANED AND READY FOR DELIVERY BEFORE SIGNING PURCHASE AGREEMENTS. I understand that the vehicles get dirty in winter conditions (test drives, snow, etc), but prior to having a customer willing to pay their hard-earned money for the truck, have the vehicle fully prepped prior to signing the paperwork. My mistake for not asking for that, but lesson learned for next purchase.
This morning my husband attempted to bring his encore in. Two weeks ago while in the Lansing area the vehicle started smoking, the local dealer replaced the pistons and the turbo. He picked it up yesterday afternoon. By the time he got home it was smoking again. He went to Shelton where we purchased the car and he was turned away as they did not have anyone that could work on it for over 1 week. Wrong answer, the dealership should have given him a replacement car until it could be fixed. Luckily Fox Chevrolet was able to help and recognized that the encore was not safe to drive. Why was my husband's safety not a priority for Shelton this morning?
in late august i went in with my grandparents and we looked at a 2017 buick regal sport touring - a very nice car. i really wish that the salesman would've offered that i look at the regal GS as well which i had no knowledge of this however isn't my main concern my main concern was that when we first got the car before it even left the lot there were scratches on the door handles and the fender s along the wheel wells and the salesman was very helpful on getting them buffed out and removed after they were buffed out they were gone until about a day later they were back. i was rather disappointed after dropping 30k in a car you'd think it wouldn't have scratches on it. and about a week ago i noticed that the clear coat was beginning to peel on the rear quarter right where it transitions into the trunk there was a very rough lip of paint/clear coat where it looked as if the car had been damaged in the lot and they did a quick fix and did a poor job doing so. other that that we were treated well by the salesman erik. i would like to be contacted on behalf of this issue.
My husband, got a lease on a GMC Acadia Denali people in the parts department and repairs and everybody is super friendly is a great place to go for a car an especially 1 Coleman the salesperson we dealt with very very efficient very friendly and very professional. I highly recommend this place.
Their service department is top notch, best experience I've had so far. Had my car fixed in less then a day.. and they were ALL super friendly, accommodating and most importantly COMMUNICATIVE! Props to this team, I couldn't have asked for a better customer experience. Special thanks to Marc.
Purchased a new 2015 Sierra 2500 HD Denali from here. Paid cash and started having issues right off the lot. Brakes squeezing and the sales lady said it's probably just rust from sitting. Never offered to take it in to look at it. Then a center cap and off one tire and she insisted someone stole it! As if only one? Finally got them to cover that. The brakes have been looked at a few times they say they cleaned and adjusted, however they still squeak. I think it's a stuck caliper on passenger rear. There is noise in the door gasket they call an itching sound. That is still not fixed. They first tried some jelly like lube and didn't say what they did. I grabbed the door and I got it on my hand. Not an acceptable fix! So it's been in for that and a noise in front end they can't do anything about. Intermediate shaft and GM knows about this. I keep getting told it's not a safety issue and there is no fix. They just squeeze lube in it. Works until it wears out. I got GM involved and now the dealer said they fixed it. No they did not as I was pulling out they heard the noise. This is how you treat a customer who dropped 60k plus with you? Also when getting my oil changes no one ever mentioned or offered to change the air filter! Hmmm crappy service for sure!
Jeff who works customer service in the service shop was super friendly and helpful. He kept me up to date and explained thoroughly what the technicians diagnosed. They got my car in and out within 24 hours! That was with them replacing and cleaning 1 front speed sensor and cleaning another front speed sensor, running an alignment check and doing a front end alignment, replacing lower bushings, and diagnosing an airbag problem! I highly recommend and will be going back for service.
Best possible customer service experience at Shelton Buick GMC! I had a serious issue with my car late on Thursday night before the holiday weekend. Kel R. was still there, working hard, and took time to listen and sympathize, writing up the vehicle. Marc C. made sure my vehicle was fixed quickly and correctly (while keeping me informed) and I was back on the road with no disruption to our family vacation! The people at Shelton understand and care that being without your vehicle is a huge frustration and they do their best to help you get on with your life. I highly recommend them!
Service rep, Van, was very helpful and friendly and diligently provided several options for me to consider. Finally leased the 2017 GMC Acadia and wife and kids are very happy with this vehicle.
I was very pleased with the services performed on my vehicle, as well as the customer service i received. I especially enjoyed the free car wash.
Salesmen was not focused on our desires and failed to communicate the process clearly. We felt pressured into buying what the salesmen wanted us to buy and weren't given the opportunity to look at other vehicles we expressed interest in. Regret having done business here.
This establishment is very well managed. The owner Mr. Shelton is a legend. Everytime we dealt with the dealership we get 5 star Service.
Victoria in the body shop and Jeff in service where very helpful in getting an extremely quick turnaround on a repair to my car. Excellent communication and service!
