Running shoes have certainly reached the realm of high priced sporting goods, but if you run with any frequency, you need to be sporting the right kicks. Several locations you can get to and all the staff are incredibly knowledgeable about products and running, in general.

I went by 1st Place Sports today and was a bit surprised when Albert waited on me right away. You see, I’m 70 , and normally in runners shoe stores, they look past me, and move on to the next younger customer. Guess they figure I’m not going to be running any marathons. Today was different and I am most grateful. Albert took the time to discuss my needs, showed me some stretches for the plantar fasciitis that I am experiencing, and put me in a wonderful shoe. You see, just recently I lost my husband and within the same week was diagnosed with breast cancer.
So many recommendations to walk to ease the stress and grief, but I just couldn’t because of the pain. Well, today I’m happy to report my little dog and I went on a much needed walk! Thank you Albert.response / report this review -

Highly recommend!!! My family is new to running and I hurt myself last week. They took the time to hear my story, look at my foot, the way I walk, asked lots of questions, and then fitted me for the right shoes and accessories I would need to not hurt myself again. Not to mention I walked in around 6:30 and they didn't rush me out. Took the time to make me a priority and that earns by business forever.

First time at 1st place sports running for a new pair of jogging shoes. Staff was incredibly nice, even helped get my feet in the shoes. Which surprised me as that wasn't necessary at all, noticed my cotton socks and recommended proper socks for jogging which has made a big difference in feeling. The lady helping me is pretty cute which is a plus, and the rewards program is pretty good compared to most other places. Will definitely come back as a first choice for anything jogging related or recommend friends for shoes.

Melissa, the store manager, greeted my daughter and me when we entered the store. Little did I know this would be my BEST shoe store experienceEVER!!! We came in to buy my daughter her first pair of running shoes. Melissa took time to ask my daughter the right questions. She then took a video of my daughter running (a gait analysis which she explained to us) to determine the type of shoe she needed. She then helped her try on 5-7 pairs of shoes. Melissa was careful to get the perfect fit. She also encouraged my daughter in her running by providing information about running clinics, a plan to help her progress toward a 5K and a booklet on upcoming races. Melissa is AWESOME and I look forward to having her assist us with future purchases. Thank you, Melissa, for making this more than a transactionit was a GREAT experience!

First off, locations on all sides of Jacksonville and St. Augustine so easily accessible. There are very few places in town with the customer service dedication to the running/cycling/triathlon community than 1st Place Sports has. They always have the latest products, shoes, clothing and gadgets in stock. If you're new to running and not sure how to begin, go into the store and they will spend the time talking with you and get you fitted in an appropriate shoe for you. Try a race, maybe a 5k or farther. 1st Place Sports has a race or two almost every weekend of the year. And their premier races such as Gate River Run, Run 13.1, Pumpkin Run, Wine & Chocolate 5k are so much fun, well supported and always have the best shirts and medals. Check out the website for a list of races, store locations and running club info. I started running 5 years ago at age 30 and the people at 1st Place Sports have become friends as well as introduced me to an entirely new group of outgoing, healthy minded folksthey are called runners! Highly recommend going to the store and seeing for yourself. Happy running
