Great staff, nice cozy rooms, free fast wifi, fully equipped big kitchen space and a fantastic location. You can buy groceries at the front desk (no markets in Aoraki Village). I wanted to stay couple more nights but they were fully booked. It is the clean budget place to stay in Aoraki Village. Kudos to the management. Best hostel experience in New Zealand.
The hostel locates on Aoraki Mt Cook Village. The room Twin Bunk Private which we booked is small, but it's clean and we felt comfortable. The service is as good as we expected.
Clean. Super friendly staff. Helpful. Awesomely stocked kitchen. Free WiFi. Will return!!!
Good facilities, lots of space to cook which can sometimes be a problem. My biggest issue was the lack of power outlets in the room. I was in an 8 man dorm and could only find two sockets on the other side of the room (which were already in use) I had loads of things to charge and it was just impossible It was possible to buy ingredients for breakfast which was great, because there's no shops near. Friendly staff, but the guy at reception always had headphones in which I felt was quite rude Put a speaker and add atmosphere if you want to listen to music.
Great self-sufficient hostel. Very nice and complete kitchen. Bathrooms clean. Friendly staff. Amazing views!
Great place to stay the night while in Mt Cook! We booked last minute, had nothing but friendly service, well-thought-through facilities in fantastic condition. We had a sauna after a cold day which topped the experience. No loud backpackers or party poopers, even though it was quite busy. Everything was perfect. Definitely recommend it!
Friendly receptionist. Clean and comfortable facilities. However the toilet and shower is very limited downstairs. The walls are also very thin you could hear the whole conversation in the next room. Free wifi!
Well equipped kitchen. Clean bath and bedrooms. Reasonable priced compared to other places in this area. Biggest problem was that they don't enforce quiet hours. We had kids running up and down the hallway and jumping off beds until almost midnight. Not good if you need to get up for a 5 am hike.
Too many youngsters having too much of a good time and making too much noise with no respect for anyone else. Rooms felt overcrowded and claustrophobic. Paper thin walls with lots of noise. If you're a young person enjoying your life who loves to have a good time with others, you'll likely love this place. If you're a grumpy old man like me who likes solitude and quiet - avoid at all costs.
The wifi is free and unlimited! The room that we stayed in was small and the walls were paper thin. The teenage girls who were staying beside us banged their doors and had no concept of courtesy. It was not a very restful stay for that reason. For the price, we could have stayed in a decent hotel close by for the price. For people like us who wants to have a comfortable restful accommodation this is not the place. It is more of a place for the young ones. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything you will ever want including condiments, spices, sugar etc. Their kitchen was the best that I have come across. Service was good as well.
One of my favorite stays in NZ (and I went both the south and north islands). Affordable place, room was a tad small but as expected of backpacker stays. But the kitchen was roomy and quite beautiful! There's also a TV room and sauna as well. 5 Stars!
