One of the best accommodations in Auckland. Helpful and friendly staff. Neat and clean premises.

I liked very much of my stay in there, the beds were really good, quiet place despite of the fact of beeing close to the city, the price was also really good, plus the fact that you know a bunch of new people and feel like one big family. :D

BEWARE OF BED BUGS AND BLOOD STAIN SHEETS!! Our family (2 Adults & 2 Kids) stayed in room #4 which was filled with bed bugs and the sheets were filthy. Our double bed had blood/period stains on it. We left the immediately in disgusted. Management was a total hard ball on her "NO REFUND POLICY" . I'm going to make my life mission to have that place shut down. Really wished we read the GOOGLE reviews as the booking site booked from said it was 4.5 stars! Could not give a negative star unfortunately so this 1 star is very generous for such health hazard! The pictures of my poor husband's bed bug bites are only a fraction of the 200+ he has.

The sheets and towels were stained almost more than I could bear, but they smelled and felt clean, and what do you do at that point anyway? The front office was nice enough to give me new towels on request as ours were full of lint. Maybe travel with one of those silk sheet bags?
That being said . the location is great I slept well and the shower was very good.
We were in room #4 the private family room with a queen size bed and a bunk bed, we had our own en suite bathroom. The other smaller private rooms seemed like ours, clean but old. The whole hostel including our room is dated and worn. The carpet in our room was clean, there was a new stainless steel shower base we were standing on so I felt better about the bathroom. We had french doors that opened onto a small deck with a couple stairs down to the back communal patio and two windows that opened. There was no table or chair and only the overhead light but there was a dresser and two bed tables to put our stuff on, there were 3 electrical plugs in our room.
There is an old communal kitchen, a nothing special small lounge area with sofas crammed in, and a laundry area. The outside patio has 3 large picnic tables and is very pleasant though all afternoon there were guest laundry racks at the far end.
The front desk person has been very pleasant, the other guest seem content. The price was good for the location.response / report this review -

Worst experience I got in NZ. Prepaid for 3night. First day morning I went out. When I came back, all my staff were gone. They said there were nothing inside my room and the door was open,so they cleaned it. Who would even steal a half empty bottle of water and a used toothbrush? Nothing valuable inside, but their pitty lies made me sick. And, it wasn't clean neither. No sheet was replace, fungus on the pillow. My advise: STAY AWAY!

Kitchen is well equipped but absolutely tag your food items, even if you just store them for an hour. No sinks in toilets or showers, only in the rooms. Not the cleanest hostel but OK, looks a bit shabby. Rooms to the front suffer a bit from the street. Nice BBQ area in the backyard.

Worst I've stayed in nz. Paid for a family room (pretty much a motel price) with own bathroom - dirty, smelly, mould on walls. Bed had springs sticking out of it. Bedding was old and looked dirty. Couldnt wait to leave. Yuk
Honestly give the place a good clean, replace the smelly carpet, broken furniture and bathroom fittings and paint the walls and you might have a decent backpacker's, otherwise you are embarrassment to nz.
A little hint..bleach gets rid of mould.response / report this review
