  This is a lovely backpackers. Our ensuite room was lovely, however it was very hot and stuffy and it was hard to sleep. The fan was too noisy for light sleepers and the small window to the corridor provides little relief. Other than that it was a great stay.

  Everything is very clean. There is a cheap dinner most nights. It's fairly small and quiet overall.

  Nice and comfortable. Good services. $5 dinner. Rooms are quite pricey tho, does feel secure and private. Great location for the town

  Really friendly and helpful receptionist, who definitely knows the area. Rooms are decent and the set out makes it easy to find stuff. All round great place to take a quick break or 3.

  Everything's great. And if you feel like staying in to watch a movie in the tv lounge, there are SO many options.

  Staff was nice. Was unlucky enough to end up in a bunk bed, where one German couple were doing "their ting" on the bottom bunk. Other than that cant whine.

  I stayed with the urban Backpackers with friend of mine for a Guys night in Taupo we had a great time the women at the front desk was a great help and very cheerful you'll be surprised how far great customer service goes, We had a great time drinking hassle free and from the get go were made to feel welcome

  Overall great. Good location and helpful and friendly staff. The kitchen and common areas were good, but the rooms are a bit dusty and dont smell that great. My allergies (which usually arent an issue when staying at hostels, or ever really) were acting up when I tried to sleep on the provided bedsheets and pillowcase. Perhaps the pillow hasnt been given a good wash in a while or was recently kept on the floor. My friend also noted the dry-dusty air was giving her a sore throat.
  This wouldnt keep me from staying here again, but it's what is keeping me from giving a 5-star review.
