Travelling through South Island with friends from the UK. Happened upon this fab place after local advice. Wonderful food.honestly the mince and cheese pie was to die for.
My chums tell me the orange and date scons, warmed (with butter of course ) are superb.
Once again, staff are so welcoming.

Had big breakfast, normal white toast not fully toasted, bacon is like a rock, tomato and mushrooms came out raw. Poached egg was ok but undercooked. However, this place is cosy, got fire place and super clean toilet. I recommand just having cabinet food.

Terrible coffee for NZ standards. This place used to be good but has really gone downhill. Asked for a refund and the rude lady behind the counter refused saying "that's how we make our coffee". She reckons flat whites shouldn't have any microform! Three other people complained about the coffee while we were there. Not good enough and a real shame for Murchison. Suggest carrying on north to St Arnaud store where they make great coffee.

40 minute wait for anything from the kitchen at 2pm not acceptable. Prices high as well. There are better alternatives.

Great honest service. Went in at a busy time and was told the length of wait. I could then make choices. Chose to come back later and it was well worth the wait.

An absolute must see if you're passing through. Huge range of food all made in house, absolutely spotless kitchen, with staff who clearly care about what they do and genuinely make you feel welcome. 20/10
