Stunning scenery. Magic clear streams, lakes, cascades, and waterfalls. Moss covered glades under the beech forest with moderate to quite challenging walking tracks.

Beautiful area. We were there yesterday 12.7 and there was gale force winds and snow blowing off the mountains. A must see if on route to Nelson, Christchurch or on route to wherever 😊 just be careful with the ice on the jetty if walking out as the game force winds blow you away on the ice.

Did St.arnud 6 hours return hike. It became really windy and therefore cold once I was out of woods area. Great view but not a must if you are in a hurry.

We did the 7 hour tramp - the most enjoyable bush walk I've ever experienced! Though it might be good if all signs had the same information? Ie we left at 11.30 thinking a 5 hr tramp was the max - so we were surprised to still be tramping at a quick pace well after that. ( Afterwards we saw the sign in another car park that explained the max walk is 7+ hours ).
STILL - we were out before dark and it was THE BEST bush walk I've been on! I'd do it again, thanks!!
