  The name luxury lodge says it all, this place is pure paradise. Stunning villa made for the most discerning of guests. A private and exclusive residence with breathtaking views. We were made to feel extremely welcome and were catered for to the highest degree. Couldn't recommend higher.

  Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat exceeded all expectations. The HUGE villa is probably one of the most luxurious places I've stayed with my partner and the view overlooking Lake Pukaki is second to none. The hot-tub went down extremely well and was a great way to soak in the views. Luke and Kaye are the perfect hosts. Friendly, welcoming and accommodating yet not intrusive. They were there when needed otherwise you don't see them at all. The home-made touches are special. Everything from the dinner - a 3 course meal thats worthy of being served up in a nice restaurant, to the delicious fresh fruit cake presented upon arrival to the home-made muesli and jams. We decided to dine out on our second night and Kaye recommended Shawty's in Twizel which was a 10 min drive away. It did not disappoint although if we'd known the food was going to be that good at the Retreat, we would have been happy to dine in for a second night. If you're looking for some serious R&R with complete privacy and mesmerising views then look no further than to the Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat.

  The onsite Observatory is integrated into an underground wine cellar where you can combine telescope viewing and astrophotography with a selection of some of New Zealand's best wines and gourmet nibbles. Just try it.
