All the rooms smelt of smoke and very musty. If you're asthmatic make sure you bring your inhaler. It was a shame really because the staff were really nice and it wasn't to far from some lovely bars and cafes.

Wont stay anywhere else since finding out about this place. Across the road from trains, bus transport, also shuttle bus to Interislander Ferry. Reasonable priced accommodation to suit different budgets, great meals, a bar, games room, huge tv room, well stocked kitchen with pots, utensils, crockery, etc. if you want to prep. your own food, computers to use, etc.

My stay was fantastic.. clean tidy room..very comfortable bed.. wonderful friendly staff. Helpful as. Definitely staying again. Only problem was small window didn't shut completely so abit of a cold breeze but wonderful all the same. Booked my next stay yesterday! Thankyou staff at Waterloo see you in October! 😊

In short: dirty!
Booked a 4 people shared room. Floor was definitely not vacuumed before we checked in and the bathroom had mold in shower and sink, hair and there was dried blood on the toilet rim. Disgusting.
Worst hostel we stayed at in new Zealand. Hopefully the hotel rooms are better.
Staff talked very quickly and was hard to understand although we we're clearly not from New Zealand.
Would not book again.
Only good thing was the short distance to the mana/naked busstop (20metres).response / report this review -

The place is clean but obviously a hotel short on guests cashing in on backpackers.
As such you get the hotel experience with warm dorms with nice beds.
Mid-high price but you'll know why.
WiFi great if you don't abuse it and location isn't bad either.
Staff really nice and nightly deals on drinks.

This is a good Hotel to stay at. The facilities are clean and functional. I love the lifts here even if modernized because they have an epic sounding motor. Even if the Hotel is old and in need of an upgrade, it is a must visit. Bit of a pity I couldn't ride the service lift but The main lifts were just as Epic. Even if modernized. Basically great Hotel and great lifts.

The 6 bed dorm was not clean, but the kitchen really took the biscuit it was a Joke nothing was left clean so I used my own camping pans and cutlery! There where also no bowls and to top it was of someone took my food from the fridge unit, I asked the cleaning staff if it was them and they said it wasn't (it was dated and named) people in my room said they had similar experiences. It's also $4 to store your bag for 8 hours which is extortionate and should be free.
In conclusion go to the Dwellington I stayed there before and it was lovely!response / report this review -

Inexpensive lodging in a faded Grand Deco Beauty. Excellent location directly across from the Wellington train station and right up the road from the ferry.

I booked because only here had vacancy this day , but I didnt expect so dirty and old room from official website!
Yes they don't show real room. I understand because of cheap but totally different from photos,also such room can include as four stars hotel?I dont think sotowel is,but no soap anywhere.
Good to stay if you pay more than 100$ in room , if less,you should think its old hostel quality for backpackers for one night.response / report this review
