Definitely not recommend if you are with a car. It was such a pain to park in the vicinity of the hostel. Beds are squeaky, bathrooms could be cleaner, but if you're on a budget like we were you'll be just fine.

Awesome place, great bathrooms can be a bit noisy but same as most hostels. They have security to enforce an 11pm alcohol an noise curfew which makes it easy to stay long term

Very poor facilities, bed bug problem that wasn't resolved. Inattentive staff who don't care or know how to deal with the issue. Messy bathrooms and rooms. Disruptive guests who are violating the rules but are somehow still allowed to stay. Not good for short term accommodation as it resembles a student hall with long term guests and their built up mess. Very poor place. Would not return there or recommend.

Stayed here back in 2014, it was my first hostel experience and was alright. Would be better in a group but if it's just yourself and you don't mind noise at random times of the day and can deal with a communal bathroom it does the job. It's also a good location to grab a bus or shop which is why it gets 4 stars instead of 3.

The hotel is welcoming and well located, it offers many services, several kitchens, a lounge with a TV, a games area, computers and laundry. The housekeeping staff is very involved with the guest, the hostel is clean and cleaned every day, 3 times a day in the bathrooms and kitchens. The hostel offers services every week for the change of sheets. It is a very pleasant place to live there a few days where long term

Your average hostel of a decent quality. The staff is friendly, and the hostel is designed with good intentions. I did feel that the guests staying there during my stay were grouped up, inconsiderate, and not tidy at all. Location is great though, and the 11 PM curfew is quite well enforced.

This place was conveniently located even though it was on a bit of hill. Then again, hills are hard to avoid in Wellington. It was relatively clean and maintained, typical of the institution that the YMCA is. One drawback is the rather complicated floor layout and labyrinthine nature of the corridors. It was so complicated that they've even got things colour coded. If you have to colour code your establishment, it's time to reevaluate how it's organised. Moreover, not having a 24 hour reception is wholly unhelpful. Some of us have to come and leave at all sorts of hours. As a hotel, you don't get to choose when guests come.

Central, good free WiFi, not too expensive. Its Not near any loud noisy bars for sleep. No four star as not enough bathrooms and kitchen facilities where your probably be queueing for a while.

Location is good and price is acceptable aswellbut, cleaning is very bad, it smells and you are kind of worried of getting sick while staying here. Bad service especially compared to european standards. Worst backpacker place I have stayed on in New Zealand during my 1 month of travelling.

The hostel is well located in the city center. The staff working there is very nice (many backpackers are part of the staff actually), and the lounge room is cool with a pool table and a baby foot table. There is also a room with books, tables, sofas and a Tv where you can watch movie. Stayed there for 5 days, but I have to say that my boyfriend and I didn't want to stay more than that and rushed ourselves to find some flatmates. Even though, the place is nice, with two big kitchens where everything is organized for you to cook (fridges, personal baskets to store your shopping, big tables), I think the cleaning could be a bit better (especially in the bathrooms) and they should pay more attention to how people live in their rooms (after a first night, we had to ask for a new room, because one other guy in our room was living there like a pork for several weeks, so the room was totally stinky)
