Definitive overprized!!! At Ngawha springs you gonna find a similar park with more then ten hot pools with different temperature and a few mud pools as well. There is no time limit, you can use whole day long if you want. For 4$ per person!

A little overpriced, definitely am not for exploitation of nature for profit gain. Can't imagine too much money goes into nature taking it's course and letting magma superheat water, but I don't run the park so $35 to just walk around seemed a little steep. I thought it was cool to see regardless, and am glad I went, but I feel just a little ripped off.

Very fun and different experience! Staff are friendly and decent value for money. Not bad things - but advice to anyone going would be to wear clothes you're happy to get ruined and moisturize skin after because it dries your skin out severely. Again, not bad - but just things to be aware of to have the best experience possible!

AMAZING!!! Great service the guy behind the counter is really friendly, we only went for the thermal spa at $20 per person your made to feel really comfortable with the staff tending to your every need! Making sure your hydrated while bathing and providing secure bins for your gear Hey we'll definitely be back thanks heaps guys Your awesome!!!!!

We got the mud bath and spa package for 75$ each and while it was enjoyable, it certainly wasn’t worth the price. We’ve been to several hot springs on this trip including Maruia (South Island) and Kerosene Creek (South of Rotorua), both of which were better experiences for the cost. There was very little variety in hot pools here, both in temperature and size/shape. Just two sulfur pools and the one mud bath.

We enjoyed this place. It's about 20 minutes from the city, not too far. Staff were friendly. We did the whole walk, we didnt swim. We thought the volcano was pretty cool, and the boiling hottest pool there. Interesting. It was raining but still saw everything. The ground is rough in places but still easy to get around. The smell wasn't that bad, I wouldnt let this put anyone off! Beware of wearing silver jewelry though, it tarnishes!

Mud bath and spa combo is $75. There are 3 mud pools of differing sizes. They are filled with warm water and mixed with mud from the park. Max time is 20min. Oddly refreshing to spread all over yourself (none above cheeks). Then there are 2 mineral water pools with hot and hotter water overlooking entrance to geothermal park. Also a cold plunge pool with freezing water. We went mud pool, hot pool, plunge pool and hotter pool, repeat plunge. Total time in spas was 45 min. There are toilets and changing rooms. Given a crate to put belongings in and carry around with you. Also water dispenser with paper cups. Togs will smell for days after and need to be washed multiple times so try and wear old ones. Overall unique and refreshing one-time experience

Staff is super cool and friendly, the mud pools are awesome too. One little thing that we didn't like is the noise, we had one group of people talking too loud and eventually taking the peace away. A sign would help. Highly recommended experience.

Good mud pool in Rotorua. It was a little quite but it meant we had more room to ourselves. The mud pool is limited to 20 minutes, but I suspect this is for health reasons. The other pools were very warm and we felt very refreshed when we left.
Some warnings: There are no private changing rooms or showers, only two communal rooms which are separated by male/female. Also, there are no lockers but you are provided with a large black storage box (which you move around with you).response / report this review -

The geothermal walk is great and ensure that you do the entire walk to see the best of the geothermal activity. Then unwind in the mud pools and spas.
Just don't wear anything you like in the pools as the smell is very hard to get rid of and better to just throw away.response / report this review -

Its ok. Literally on the side of the road setting is not that inspiring. If it was half the price would have been worth the money. Glad they let us look at the private pools before we paid the extra.prison cell comes to mind. Staff were professional and pleasant. If you have time and cash on the hip its worth it for the novelty.

This place is amazing. You can wander along the tracks yourself or wait for the guided tours. A chance to steam your feet in the hot mud is a must (beware it is HOT). The mud volcano and bubbling ponds are awesome to see. Fantastic Rotorua experience.

Received a gift voucher from the spa we were staying at which amounted to the combo package. We had already done a geothermal walk the day before so quickly got that portion of the package out of the way. Wasn't anything special.
Arrived at what was advertised as a traditional Maori carving workshop, which was manned by 3 kids, asked what was going on here to which one replied "just pick a design and do it", we didn't. It was super awkward and it felt like they didn't want to be there.
Proceeded to our mud baths, which is why I'm giving this 4 stars. 20 minutes of messy fun after which we hung in the sulphur baths for another 20 mins or so, kinda wish we hadn't, took 3 days to get the smell off of us.
As an added not, the girl in attendance was super nice and very attentive.response / report this review -

This place is pretty cool and HOT and stinky! Worth it if you've never experienced good geothermal activity before, though. Saw someone on crutches as we were walking that didn't seem to struggle much so don't let that stop you from visiting! A better selection of Hellsgate specific merchandise in the gift shop would have been great.
