Lovely apartment which was spotless and well equipped. A bit of a walk to the town centre - took about 15 mins. Lovely friendly staff. Would recommend!

Arrived without booking a room and even though it was school holidays we were lucky to be given a room for ourselves and 3 grandchildren. Room was big and really clean. Kids enjoyed the swimming pool. Host was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

Pretty average really. Double bed in unit 9 was the worst I have slept on, being lumpy with massive roll together. Very hard to find at night, with virtually no street or carpark lighting. Although unit was nice and clean and tidy with heatpump, upstairs living area was warm and pleasant. Unfortunately warmth did not reach downstairs sleeping area, where it was cold and damp. Although not hotels fault noise levels from other units seemed to travel easily through walls, with somebody's 'party' waking us at around 2am. Would not recommend to anyone at $170 a night. I would like to say, at a cheaper rate, these things would not have been such an issue.

My daughter escaped the edgecumbe floods with her 10 day old baby and 2 year old and half a bucket of essential supplies. She went to 3 motels in whakatane and was turn away by all 3 saying they prefer no children or didn't want to deal with insurance. The people at Alton lodge were the total opposite. They asked other customers if they would mind moving rooms so my daughter and her family could be together in a family unit and supported and helped from the moment they got there. A huge thankyou to these people for all their efforts not just for my daughter but all of the people they have helped over the past few weeks. It's a shame not all of whakatanes accommodation services are like you.

Whanau friendly.has every thing you need for a comfortable stay and perfect location to do things with your kids.Added bonus has a pool thumbs up for that.
