Located very conveniently close to Centraal station in Damrak. Staff are super helpful and polite. The bar and smoking room are fantastic hang out spots and there are enough events and specials to keep guests happy. Great place if you wanna meet a bunch of people from around the world. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are reasonably clean. A bit pricey maybe but not onerously so. Would recommend if you're in Amsterdam for a night or 2.

Bed was comfortable, clean and tidy. Staff were very friendly. Services include a kitchen, smoke room (can smoke weed too) bar and there's breakfast each morning as well. Can't say much as only slept for one night so didn't use many services on offer. That said, I wouldn't hesitiate to use them again.

Great hostel and location. But room hygiene is just OK. They have a really nice and social smoking room you can enjoy. But I had expected so much more from the place. The location of the hostel is amazing,

Stayed here during my travels in Amsterdam. The large bed dorm is not fun at all since people are in and out ALL the time- thankfully that was only one of my four nights there. I really enjoyed the 8 bed female dorm and met some great people during my stay. The lockers under the bed were great. Staff were friendly, large dinners were fun, and I liked the lockers at the front for safety.

10/10! This is by far my favourite hostel because of its great vibes/atmosphere, friendly staff, affordable drinks/food and fun activities that they host most nights! It is located in the most accessible place nearby shops, bars and transport. I was in a 16 bed dorm which provided a perfect space to meet people which my friends and I felt comfortable in. Was there for 4 nights and it broke my heart leaving! Will most defiantly be going there again.

The staff here are one of a kind. They are all friendly and helpful. The atmosphere here is amazing! Everybody is so relaxed and willing to talk with you. I highly recommend The Flying Pig downtown. It was one of my favourite places I stayed at in Europe. There's a communal kitchen downstairs with plates and cutlery, which was really convenient. Amsterdam is expensive, so it was useful to have that there.

The location is amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hostel can get noisy, especially if your room is near the bar. They provide ear plugs for that which is quite thoughtful. Cleanliness is not that great but I guess that really depends on the people you are sharing the dorm with. Can't always go around blaming the staff. The breakfast is nice, just like the kind you get served at every other hostel.
Overall, a good hostel to stay at when in Amsterdam. :)response / report this review -

Second time staying at The flying pig and it was as ever, very welcoming. The staff are very friendly and the rooms are always clean and especially the bathrooms. The shared bathrooms were always immaculate.

Great experience! Safe, secure, warm, cleaned regularly and good beds and hot showers. The staff were a great bunch and most of the guests seemed to be fun too. The only downside is the absolutely basic of basic breakfasts. Repetitive, limited selection, over boiled eggs and on one of the days they struggled to refresh/top up the food selection and ran out of plates, bowls and utensils.. staff must've been wankered from the night before (Fri)! Bit more training required perhaps​?

Stayed in May of 2015 in the 32 Bed Double Dorm and totally didn't realize till we arrived that the Double meant a Double bed! Whoops. Regardless we had a fantastic two night stay. Surprisingly no issues sleeping since there's really 2 separate rooms. And the front desk supplies you with ear plugs if you need them which is great!

There is pretty much not a bad thing I can say about this hostel!! Great location, party hostel (if you want to had some early nights in and sleep well, definitely don't stay here) with super friendly staff! Sometimes I actually thought the staff were other travellers as they would sit in the social areas. 24/7 smoking area with a bar that's open until 3 - although they'll serve you food later if you've got the late night munchies ;) - that also organises events and stuff too. I definitely recommend to a solo traveller, or to anyone wanting to have a few proper Amsterdam nights! :)

Though there are so many stairs to get into the hostel, I'd never regret my stay. Staying in Amsterdam as an American student was a little scary because I couldn't fully understand the area but when I came to the hostel, everyone was super helpful, could speak perfect english, and had a lot of helpful pamphlets and events to help guide us around the city and have some fun! The rooms were nice and everything was clean. I even made some great friends! It's just not so handicap accessible
