I went today to register and after spending time felling out the Dutch contract. I went to change and train. In the mid of the training one of the workers came to me and said that it is not allowed to have a tank top on! I have to have a t-shirt! I told him it is my first time and his colleagues at the reception didn’t mention that. He brought me a used old weird T-shirt and asked me to wear it or I have to leave. I had to stop my exercise in the middle and leave the gym. He also told me that they do that because the don’t want muscular people to show off their bodies. I’m sure that the person who took such a decision is mentally sick.
It is shame on them to control what people should and shouldn’t wear! We are not in the Middle Ages! I am going to do sport I should wear whatever comfortable for me as long as it doesn’t effect anyone. Also all the signs are in Dutch so any expats in Amsterdam wouldn’t feel welcome.
I decided not to come back here and not to recommend such a place to anyone!
Big and pleasant gym. Get's too crowded thou, and the set up of the equipment can be smarter. The music is not good, I wish it had more power. And the TV screens show irrelevant show like medical operations and strange animal birth's and such. Why not show sports? Seems more relevant. The protein shake tastes slimy and strange. Thou they have good protein water and the coffee is free.
Fired one of the most motivated body pump instructors. Really sad. Plus no full body mirrors not even in the changing room which is annoying. Closes early on weekends. But overall the service is good and very friendly staff.
You ruined my fitness fun at SC-wibaut by firing the best motivator, stimulator Bjorn Gulpen. No one can get the best out of yourself as he does :(. Please don't take this away from us, please give him one last chance!!!
Very nice environment to work out just wish the staff smiles more
Nice gym with lots of space to work out, you never feel crammed. The fitness equipment is pretty new (Technogym) and the gym is clean. There are many group lessons and the teachers are nice.
Having said that they have a very annoying policy about clothes: you cannot work out sleeveless (man or woman) in the main area. It is only allowed for the group lessons. The reasons they give for that are hygiene, not wanting other users to feel unconfortable and not wanting to attract body builders to their facility. Ridiculous!! In the same line of thought, you will not find a single mirror in the work out areas o classes. Apparently they do not want vain people around just admiring their biceps while in the gym. It is a shame for it helps to have a mirror to correct your posture while training
One of the best one
Biggest sport city in town. Has less courses but better equipment
Worst gym ever for any weightlifter who can do more than an average person. All the dumbells which are very few already are 100 years old have different grips and heaviest is 38kgs. no deadlift rack and thing that looks like it has 100kgs only and guess what all the plates available within the gym wouldnt go over 300kgs.. only one cable machine which is always occupied by newbies.. only 4 benches none of which has foot rest. No kettles as well.
Good cardio machines but most of them are out of balance and needs tuning.. unacceptable and unreasonable for any person training strength.
I wish they would stop using the common area for workshops. Every time u are trying to follow your own pace in workouts they are coming to take the best area for self workouts for some class and u have nowhere to go.
