I stayed at the hotel between 14th November 2017 and 15th November 2017. Please see below my comments;
Positives;
Location: Excellent location as very close to the main attractions along with Amsterdam Central Station.
Anne Frank’s House – 10 Mins walk;
Sex Museum – 12 mins walk;
Van Gogh Museum and Amsterdam Sign – 22 min walk;
Red Light District – 25 min walk
Amsterdam Central Station – 20 mins walk
Washing facilities: The shower in the room is extremely hot and does not loose temperature, while being extremely powerful, which is great for those who love a good steamy long shower;
Heating: The room warms up very quickly and can be switched on easily by the thermostats on the radiator;
Cleanliness: Before staying at the hotel I heard about bed bugs and all sorts. All I can say is that I have extremely sensitive skin and did not get bitten once, so if there was an issue before, then I am sure it has been resolved.
Shopping: Below the hotel is an array of shops along with bicycle hire for those who wish to do a last minute souvenir shopping. If you are staying a while then I would advise shopping for the basics at a supermarket which is a 5 minute walk.
Luggage storage; the hotel are very nice and allow you to store your luggage even once you have checked out, which is great if you have a late flight.
Negatives:
Steep stairs: You may have read about the steep stairs which is very accurate, however many places in Amsterdam have steep steps, so if this will be an issue then maybe Amsterdam as a whole isn’t the place for you.
Safety: Many sockets in our room were loose, so if you are travelling with children, then I would advise checking before allowing them to roam around the room freely.
Customer Service: The staff are not exceptionally friendly however not abusive. This part of the review I would take with a pinch of salt as I’m British which as a nation of people are easily offended.
Safe; while there is a safe in the room sadly it is not secured to any surface and can easily be picked up and walked away with. Sadly we were forced to carry our passports and money in a rucksack. Thankfully Amsterdam is relatively safe so we were not mugged.
Overall a very convenient hotel. I found the hotel to be no more exciting than an average Ibis or Best Western. Very good if you are young, on a budget and only using the room to sleep. If you are elderly or suffer from mobility issues, then this may not be for you. I would defiantly stay here again.response / report this review -

Room was very small, bathroom was also small. There are about 45 steps to climb just to get to the first floor of rooms. No lift/elevator available to use. And the worst part, they had a serious bed bug problem. My friend and I are covered in bite marks, I even saw one of these bugs crawling around the room. Now my concern is if I brought them back with me in my luggage.

Disgusting. DO NOT STAY HERE. Bed bugs, room covered in dust, terrible beds, uncle bathroom. Stay one night then got a refund, receptionist didn't seem surprised as she's probably aware how vile it is.

This place is disgusting. They had to close several rooms because of the putrid smell that came out of the bathrooms on the second floor. They couldn't give us another room. The manager said he didn't want to cancel the reservation and that "he wasn't willing to make a full refund". We lost time and money, and we had to go out to look for another hotel.
In any case, this hotel has really small bedrooms. The plumbing seems to be from at least a couple centuries ago. You have to climb several flights of very steep stairs and the manager was very rude. The rest of the staff was very apologetic. They charge you upfront, so you should check the room first before you pay anything.
You'd be better off sleeping on the train station than in this dump.response / report this review -

The stairs are an attraction of Amsterdam in itself (sarcasm). Please install a lift or state clearly - people above 50 or overweight BE AWARE. Rooms were small and floor appeared to have never been vaccumed. Bathroom had no shower enclosure so there was mist and water everywhere. Fortunately the exhaust was working good to it dried overnight. Location is very good, close to a lot of attractions. Breakfast was okay, would be good to have more spread and meat options.

The Location was very good, close to the Palace, Anne Franks House. The View we had from the room was great with a view right down the canal. The TV had a good choice of channels and I liked the cat the hotel had, SO that is everything positive, on a negative, the Breakfast was abit grim just toast basically. The stairs were steep and small anyone with mobility issues would really struggle. It could have been cleaner . The shower had no mixer and was dated and a bit smelly , the road noise was really bad and the staff were miserable . Would not go again as it was fairly costly

Location is great. Right near the Anne Frank Huis and Dam Square. My room had a nice view of the canal. Breakfast was basic but enough if you plan on trying all the local food during your day out. Old plumbing causes some challenges with odor.

Mold and dust in the room and waaay overpriced. The stairs must have been a real effort in order to make them this hard to climb. The breakfast is basically only a toast​ and unlimited butter

Centrally located, close to the Amsterdam Palace and Anne Frank House. Comfortable rooms, though pretty compact. Well appointed rooms and bathrooms. Some rooms have a small balcony that offers a view of the roads and canals.
A decent complementary breakfast buffet.
The hotel is above the shops that are on the ground floor of the building. Extremely narrow, steep and long flights of stairs to go up even to the reception, and then again to the rooms. Big suitcases can be a problem. There is a locker room for keeping your luggage for a while if you need to. Maps of Amsterdam are made available free of charge. Free WiFi.
There is very little staff to be seen around but they are friendly. The receptionist offered to take our luggage downstairs when we checked out but at the time of checking in, it's not easy to seek assistance (unless you call the hotel, I guess..)
All in all, despite the rates being on the higher side for my budget, I chose this on two trips and found it worth my money to stay here.response / report this review -

Good little hotel, we decided to spontaneously go to Amsterdam and found this room. Was reasonably priced maybe a little on the high side for the standard but it was booked on the day. Breakfast was included
