Great place to stay. Only complaint is the train station is about 8 to 10 minutes walk. They do provide a shuttle to the station but still its not always available. One thing that confuses me though are the shower doors. They only cover 1/4 of the tub so it becomes confined space because I don't want to flood the bathroom floor which is inevitable with that design. Other than that I'm definitely returning.

Wasn’t expecting much from a mecure hotel that looked like it was in an industrial area, but was looking for a hotel near the Olympic stadium for the Marathon.
What a pleasant surprise this hotel turned out to be. From the excellent staff who were so friendly and helpful, to the excellent buffet served in the restaurant on the eve of the marathon, to the very comfortable bed in a clean quiet room.
Can’t fault this hotel and would recommend it to my friends.
A short walk from the Metro means this hotel makes the rest of Amsterdam easily accessible.response / report this review -

It was a really great experience staying at the Mercure Amsterdam City hotel.
As we arrived for check-in we have been informed that instead of a classic double room we would be staying in a suite, which was totally nice.
Place is super quiet, great breakfast buffet. Very pleasant employees.
Definitely recommend this place.

Mercure is a hip, stylish hotel with easy access to both the main attractions and airport, using the metro with is an 8 minute walk away. The lobby and lounge are decorated with a hip Scandinavian style, and make you want to spend time there relaxing and socializing. The business class guestroom had a lovely bathroom and fantastic large shower, and with a view of the river. The bed was too firm for my liking, but this could easily be improved with a mattress pad. The surrounding area has no amenities, and is situated amongst businesses and conference buildings, so the Mercure
is best suited for the business traveler, but is still easy to get to from touristic neighbourhoods using public transit. Overall a pleasant stay.response / report this review -

The room was clean and comfortable, although a little small by the standard of American hotels in which I am used to staying. Perfectly serviceable, though. The fridge worked well. The first morning there, the shower backed up and overflowed, but I told the front desk about it on my way out and everything was immediately fixed, and there was no trouble for the rest of our stay. One night, we returned home late with a take-away dinner and some drinks, which we wanted to drink chilled. I asked at the bar for some ice, and the very helpful barkeep gave me a jug full of ice to take up to my room. Everyone was very helpful, and it was a delightful stay. The one criticism is that it is a bit remote from the downtown area, and there are not many transportation options. You can walk 7 minutes to get to a train platform, and that is very helpful, but not always appealing in heavy rain, which is what we had the whole time I was there. There is a shuttle to downtown and to the airport in the mornings, but only in the morning. There's also a canal boat in the mornings that will take you to Centraal Station. If you aren't up and out before 9:00, then you have to walk to the train. This isn't a huge problem, but if you're looking to stay someplace central with easy access to the city, or if you have a bunch of luggage to carry, there are other, easier options.

Check in was a breeze. Hotel staff very helpful in every way possible. A few not so happy front desk people and don't let them order food for you because your order will be wrong and they'll try to charge you twice for it. Yet other than that we enjoyed ourselves

We very much so enjoyed the modern interior of the lobby area, bar and restaurant. The food at the restaurant was some of the best I have tasted! However, the room was not as advertised online and we also had trouble with the window in our room which opened fully when locked! The wind from the last evening of our stay was strong and actually opened the locked window a few times which woke us up. This continued to happen the following day. The hotel did give us a refund for our breakfast to make up for it.

I stayed here for my birthday - the check in staff were lovely and gave us complementary waffles and drinks for it. The room was very nice and the cleaning staff were excellent and very polite. I really loved it here, will definitely come again! Thank you to all the staff for making our stay excellent and being so accommodating and friendly!

Stayed July 2017 with family. Lovely modern hotel. Great restaurant food. Comfortable rooms. Easy access to metro station into Amsterdam centre. Metro day, or 3-day tickets can be purchased at reception. Highly recommend. Not recommended for young kids though as no play areas etc.

I spent one night here on a short break in Amsterdam. It is a little far out from the centre but a train station is near by and you can buy a transport ticket for fairly cheap (includes bus, train, etc). The hotel itself was lovely, the room was well presented and clean. The bar downstairs was great, and had an amazing atmosphere. They also have a little shop where you can buy snacks which are fairly priced. The staff were also friendly. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone fancying a break in Amsterdam!

The first room allocated was extremely hot. No fans were available but we were offered another room. However, we had unpacked and it was late.
We did change rooms the next day. I was assured that the new room had an opening window. It did not and, although somewhat cooler than the first room, it was still stuffy. I was told no other room was available until the next day but we just wanted to enjoy our holiday and not keep changing rooms so let the matter rest. I asked for a fan and was told one would be brought but it never arrived.
I also left some clothing in the wardrobe of the first room which I only discovered when unpacking the next day. I enquired at reception within only an hour or so, but it was not found.response / report this review -

Nice and friendly hotel in less than nice surroundings. Good food and breakfast, and a great concept with a snack store in the lobby. I was rather disappointed with the cleaning, after which used coffee cups were left on the table and used towels left on the floor. The floors had also not been vacuumed during cleaning.
All in all a pleasant stay, but I expected more attention to details.response / report this review -

My girlfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend, it's located a little way out from the heart of the city, but with a metro station just a few minutes walk down the road with a direct line to the central station we couldn't complain! The room was nice, with a massive bed and large shower room. We found that the room was particularly warm and we were unable to cool it even with the air-conditioning. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall we had a wonderful time here in Amsterdam and The Mercury hotel is a lovely place to stay!

The hotel was a wonderful experience for my family and I. It was easy to get to via the train and it is situated next to a river. The facilities inside the hotel was excellent and the restaurant was great for us as a family. It provided all eating choices for us. The rooms we had were big and spacious and comfortable. It was quiet and safe.
