I'm being kind for giving it one star. I didn't mind the stairs, nor the street view. It was the dirtiest hotel I've stayed in. The bedside lights didn't work and were dangerous. The curtains were sticky and dirty, the carpet was dirty, the mattress was stained beyond belief, the bedding was not clean. The bins hadn't even been emptied. Terrible. I can't believe people would give this place a good review, you sure this is not for another hotel, there must be some mix up !

Great place to stay, stayed in a massive triple bed, the stairs are very steep but a lot of houses in Amsterdam have really high stairs due to them being old buildings so it must be accepted, plus it was pretty fun trying to navigate the stairs high, the receptionists were very helpful and friendly and gave us a lot of information on the city as it was our first visit, also have free tea and coffee.

Considering the accommodation and the price it is perfect. Unfortunately, the stairs aren't comfortable whick is to be expected in the center of Amsterdam

I loved this place!! I've stayed in 6 hotels in the city now and this was the best yet!
It's advertised as a first floor hotel, in a historic building, so I expected stairs with no lift.
I really didn't find them as bad as some say in reviews I've read. I've dealt with worse.
The room was ready when I arrived (10am) and was spotless.
Crispy clean, fresh bedding and clean towels laid out.
No marks or stains on undersheets and walls looked like they had been painted in recent months.
Bathroom was small but I love the way the Dutch utilise such small spaces so well!! Again, I've had worse in others.
The floor of the bathroom did flood after showering, but if I shower last then I don't have much need to go back in there.
After an hour it was almost completely dry.
Cleaning staff were in my room daily, bin emptied and clean towels and fresh sheets every day.
The only thing I could complain about is the closing mechanism on the balcony doors.
They could maybe do with upgrading as they didn't completely, securely lock.
Though I haven't seen any complaints and couldn't imagine security being too much of an issue, being first floor and higher. I didn't let it bother me and had no issues.
And while I enjoyed watching one of the taxi drivers that parked outside the hotel raving in the middle of a deserted radhuistraat at 4.30am with his car hifi pumping ( I'm up anyway, early riser), I imagine this could have seiously ruined somebody else's day.
Every hotel I've stayed in Amsterdam has been 2 or 3 star and honestly, there hasn't been a great deal of difference between any of them.
I think it's all down to what you expect. I'm not looking for 5* comfort. I want a bed and a bathroom. I don't expect anything else. Anything I do get is a bonus. I can make do with what I have for a few days.
Staff were all friendly and as helpful as possible.
Loved that I had an extra 10 euros to spend on the last day after I forgot about TV remote deposit.
5 stars for this place from me.
If I get the chance when I return I would definitely come back here.response / report this review -

Fantastic location. So close to the centre that I was able to stroll with my suitcase back to the train station on my way home. But could have taken a tram that stopped right outside the hotel.
Had I known there were smoking rooms (I couldn't smell a thing in the hotel, and only found out when leaving so still perfect for non-smokers) I would definitely had booked as I was alone and very sad.
Which brings me to the staff. Welcoming, lovely and friendly. From a human being to another one of the ladies restored my faith in humanity. I will remember her always.
Clean sheets, clean/modern bathroom, I felt safe and comfortable. What else are you looking for? They even suggested I leave my suitcase at checkout while I took a final look around the city before I went home. Which I did. The last time I visited Amsterdam, I went straight to the airport and this time I gained almost a whole half day thanks to their offer.
Great price, quiet at night, busy town centre less than 5 min walk away. A little gem. And I will be back. Highly recommended.response / report this review -

Lovely little hotel nice and close to main centre stone throw away from all shops lovely rooms great view staff really helpful and friendly will be returning definitely on my next and future and visits to Amsterdam

If you are looking for a great and cheap place to stay, regardless of the size of your room. STAY HERE.
Nothing to dislike, although small- this hotel provides a very cheap place to sleep nothing wrong with the quality at all, linen and towels are cleaned, replaced daily and my room probably has one of the greatest views of a peaceful Amsterdam.response / report this review -

Good place to stay the rooms are a bit on the small side but does the job. Clean and tidy sheets changed everyday I stayed here. Didn't have any problems at all even though I was a bit apprehensive reading some of the reviews on here. It's basic accommodation but I enjoyed it.
