We went to a restaurant called Rosenegra and it was phenomenal!!! The food was out of this world, the service was unbelievable and the atmosphere was divine. I HIGHLY recommend this place to all. They have Latin-American cuisine. I went to the rest room and was offered champagne or a drink in there from the attendant. I was very impressed with this restaurant.

This is a nice beach resort and good value for your money. We got the ocean facing room. But the walk to the ocean is like 4 floors down, not sure why its designed so complicated. This is a huge property so that's a good amount of walk. They have a bar in pool which is the highlight of the resort. They have some really good restaurants inside the hotel too. They have a shuttle within all the royal resorts so you can hop to another restaurant too. Also if you are taking the local bus then the walk from the resort to the bus stop is really long. It gets really hot during the day so it kinda matters how much walking you have to do. It's a decent resort.

If anyone is looking for great deals on hotels go to HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around

Great family resort. No matter what your age or taste in food, recreation, and entertainment this place has a delightful option. Been coming for 20 plus years. Never disappointed.

Second time staying here at a friend's timeshare. Our favorite of all the total resorts at Cancun. Very well kept nice spacious rooms. Not crowded. Nice beach but you have to find other locations or go on an excursion to snorkel. My family loves coming here to visit Cancun. Perfect temperature and pretty blue water

Wonderful oasis of comfort and tranquility in an intimate setting. Every room has an ocean front view. All the villas have at least a microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, plates and utensils (B suites). The A suites have full kitchens. It’s a quiet resort with three restaurants on site and a well-equipped grocery store. The staff is sincerely friendly and helpful, and all workers speak English.
The decor is a little dated, but since the resort is sadly shutting down in a few years, they won’t likely update it.

Lovely hotel but felt way to young to be here. In my mid 20s and same with my girlfriend and were at least 40 years younger than most other people here. Only meet one other couple similar age. However lovely staff, pool and hotel facilities. Bar closed very early 10pm. Beach is lovely however not the best as water is very choppy with large waves and a big drop into the water.

Meh. Very nice rooms for the price. Great beach, good pool. Everything closes at 10 and the food sucks so go to better hotels to eat or cook your timeshare. I got better information from the gardener than the concierge. Perfect place to recharge away from the 9-5 drone of corporate oblivion

This is an amazing place to stay. You will never regret your time spent at this beautiful resort. The resort staff makes you feel as if you are family and any request is entirely reasonable and can be accommodated.
I can not say enough positive things about the Royal Resort family and all of their properties . We visited four of their properties and feel that these resorts , some of which are dated and are closing because of the end of the land lease with the Mexican government, are all impeccably maintained.

I traded in my week to interval to get a week in the royal islander. The room I got was facing the ocean. Nice view. I on purposely choose off-peak time for my family so it is more peaceful and quiet then usual. Got decent restaurant and pool was ok. It's more of a second home then a real hotel.

When walking in, you get the feeling that you are home. That's because all of the workers make you feel at home. The location can't be more perfect. You have that nice view of the ocean from almost everywhere. Because of that you get that wonderful ocean breeze. The rooms are also fantastic, always kept noce and clean from the fantastic staff. Definitely makes you feel at home and not have to worry about anything

Front desk staff are very rude no one is smiling. Everyone wants American currency but we are in Mexico. And pesos is what i was using and the staff did not take kindly to that they love American money BUT WILL NOT SERVE YOU PROPERLY! My room had mold on the vent. They do treat you differently if you are not a timeshare holder
You will be able to tell on arrival they even offer time shareholders better towels if you are not a time shareholder you will receive the older towels that looks and feel much different so when you request clean towels the older ones are what you will be given All of the maids really want to clean your room once. My bathing suit came up missing I no longer wanted them to clean my room Hotel manager was very angry and said that someone has to come in to clean it at least one day of your stay I told him no thank you the pool closes at 6 p.m. at night time and opens back up at 6 a.m. they will overcharge you for the excursions and day trips and not offer you the more affordable ones just be advised

Considering the environment, it's very hard to have a bad time in Cancun at all. I think the hotel is very cool, with nice views, comfortable rooms, large patios for each room, and a good pool (albeit a bit deep if you're short). I wasn't a fan of how the beach is two floors below the pool, making it a bit cumbersome to go between them, though it does make for some cool architecture and a nice view of the ocean. The resort is also located on a street that comes off of the main road, which makes it less convenient to leave, though there are shuttles and taxis, etc.

The resort was great ! The room we stayed in was spacious, nice balcony view of the ocean ! Staff members were always helpful !

Downside for us was that the bar drinks were too weak, felt like the drinks were watered down and the food . The food for us was very basic, we were looking for more authentic Mexican food and authentic seafood and the ones avaible were to basic.
The other down side is that you have to carry you room key at all times , that's how you pay for stuff, at the pool bar, at the restaurant and at the little grocery store.

We were a family of 4, great place for families. Lots of things to do, the beach was amazing . Also the little grocery came in handy! You can cook your own meal in your room if you want to. All cooking útiles are in your room!

I would consider coming back !

Not for the younger crowd it seemed.

If you are under 40 we felt this place isn't the greatest fit. Most of the guests or members are 70+ years of age. Which is fine, but makes for a tough time to meet and mingle with other travels when you are younger than 40. The hotel itself is beautiful, with views on both the lagoon side for the sunset and the ocean side for the sunrise. Stunning. Rooms are comfy and quality. The resort staff was very very polite and accommodating. The restaurants are quick and easy, but not an every day eat, be sure to get out as there is MUCH better food else where.

I will say it seemed like more of the younger population started to arrive over the weekend, as we had gotten there on Wednesday and stayed through Monday. All in all still a very nice place.

Great place for both business and pleasure stays. When I was there, the majority of guest were seniors. So I wouldn't take this hotel if I were a couple with children or young people travelling on their own. The location of the hotel in the hotel zone is perfect. Nice clean rooms and a great beach. Definitely a place I can recommend
