you get what you paid for, have in mind that this is a 400 year old building and that is close to downtown. other than that is cheap, clean, has elevetor, hot water. all the essentials.note if you are looking for a modern look you are better off walking a streeth down to the others hotels in the same block.
I love the Hotel Monte Carlo. I consider it my home in Mexico City. DH Lawrence stayed wrote the Plumed Serpent there and Sam Peckinpaugh filmed Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia there in the sixties. It is clean, affordable and close to the Zocalo and the two best bakeries in CDMX. It was built in 1756. I have been a regular guest for 40 years.
BED BUG INFESTED! STAY AWAY! I have a fever now. The staff were very unfriendly in general. Don't go there!
The has the colonial feel. The beds where a little hard but nothing unexpected from a very old place and it is 5 walking minutes to zocalo historic center. The only bad thing was a mouse
Wow - this place is still there. My last visit was December of 1970, so hard to say what it's like now - but it looks similar (although updated). The story on it then was that D.H. Lawrence had stayed there, and that it was formerly a convent. Amazed it is still a hotel.
nice
The hotel is pretty nice and it has very nice and prepared people. The rooms have the attention the need at the moment they need it.
The whole place is pretty nice.
Good
