A fantastic resort to get away from the cold Canadian weather, awesome place for destination wedding and than just relax and enjoy a holiday. Rooms are clean and awesome, food is fantastic and the staff are extremely professional and tend to your every need.Love it..
This resort is amazing. Pristine surroundings and very well kept. Endless amounts of things to do from swim up bars, to the spa, to even shows from little kids, there are things for everyone from all ages. The buffets are excellent, very wide selection, presentation is beautiful and quality is amazing for a buffet. The sit down dinners that you make reservations for are top class , go for amazing seafood on the beach or Japanese food with a show. Everything is amazing and we would love to go back as soon as possible!
Don’t join the PTC membership!!!!!!!! The PTC services at the Riviera May Colonial it’s absolutely unprofessional and customer service is something they must not believe in.
Damian our concierge needs at least 8 years worth of customer service schooling. He definitely should not be in this business. However, though most of the folks that worked in the PTC Colonial during late March and early April should be released of their employment and give it to people that want to be in the customer service line of work.
Again STAY AWAY FROM JOINING THE PTC.
You can get the same services for cheap without a commitment and a 30year contract.
The first room we checked into smelled like urine. They cleaned it and it still smelled so we were given another room. Managers need lessons on customer service. They tried to up sell us at that point. Food was typical for an all inclusive, not very good, but the poor customer service made it worse. The beach is beautiful and security was very good.
The grounds are beautiful and the staff is extremely friendly. I wish the pools were heated as we went in the winter when it was 70 degrees out and the pools were very cold. The property includes a beautiful private beach. The activities are fun. The food was OK.
Extravagant resort, exceptional customer service. Environment and the ambience of the place is amazing. Feeling a sense of natural wonder surrounded by nature and animals. Great service with many options. The only down part is probably the food available. The quality could be better but it is understandable that the quality of food will drop when produced for mass quanitity. Overall, good experience.
If anyone has a long list of complaints for this hotel they must have a long stick up their a**. I vacationed here in August with my partner and our two baby boys (9 months, and 2 years). As you could imagine traveling with 2 babies and a double stroller seems nearly impossible but the staff was absolutely amazing, beyond accommodating, and always willing to offer a helping hand which made it so easy. They treated us with so much care and attention, we literally felt at home away from home.
The room service food was mediocre but the food at the restaurants/buffets had some of the best pastries and dishes we'd every tasted and every thing was fresh. The resort and beach is soooooo clean and absolutely breathe taking. Our junior suite was a great size and they had 2 play pins already in our room for the babies. There were so many fun and complementary activities, we never ran out of things to do. Because the 9 month old wasn't old enough to attend the baby club we did everything with the babies by our side including tequila tastings, dance classes, and more which was not an issue at all. This is a great location for any and everyone. Although our goal is to visit a different country every vacation we absolutely HAVE to come back here!
Went for my brothers wedding, and wanted to have our group sit together each night which was a huge issue. Customer service was not what I expected compared to the past times I've gone to Mexico. The food was very bland and my poor dad ended up getting food poisoning the night before the wedding, and said he saw the employees washing cups out in the woods as he was throwing up. When we first arrived to our room it was wet from the humidity and smelled like mold which we could actually see above the shower because they don't run the a/c when they aren't occupied. The hotel was pretty, and I liked the setup, but that's the only nice thing I can say about it. I've stayed at the Riu in Playa Del Carmen before and that one was a lot better in comparison.
I had the best 15 day vacation here! The staff is incredibly friendly! The beaches are amazing, the rooms are wonderful. There is actual coffee at this resort which was a huge deal for an avid coffee drinker like myself! Everything is just super nice and amazing. So much to choose from and so much to do! I highly recommend this resort. Best I've ever stay at!
Amazing is all I can say. Awesome rooms. Awesome views. Awesome beaches and pools. Your kids will love the kids pool area, activities, and shows. The food has always been decent, but it keeps getting better every year. The staff is very customer service oriented, too. You'll love this place!
This is a giant resort with everything you could want. The staff here were fantastic and very accommodating. There are a lot of a la carte restaurant options as well as the buffets. The pools and beaches are very nice and the spa was amazing. The sports bar had surprisingly good food, and maybe even my favourite out of all the options available during my stay. There was a variety of shows at night which was nice, however the start time of 10:30pm every night was a bit late after a full day. Also, due to the size of the resort, the trolleys and trams that take you to rooms and lobbies is essential, however there were times where the wait for one was close to 20mins. Other than that, my one week stay here was fantastic and I would highly recommend this resort.
I give up with this group. I have called everyday for the last 5 days trying to speak with the correct department and I am consistently being transferred while I'm still speaking or just transfered to another number. I visited this hotel with my family a year and a half ago, I was roped into touring the travel club so that I could get a discount on my next travel. Now that I am looking to book another vacation, no one can help identify this "special discount/credit" that we should have. I've never had so much trouble booking a vacation. Moving on to the next resort.
