The hotel is awesome! Food is great, bartenders are great! Only complaint is reception is freaking horrible!! They won’t help you.after standing in line to be helped for over 45 minutes the receptionists would help other people standing around before they helped me. So rude and unprofessional, finally had to cause a scene for them to help me. Your customer service people at the front desk are lacking basic customer service skills! Please fix it!!!

Alejandro Perez at the buffet tropical was fantastic. He was extremely attentive and made us feel so welcome. He made sure we had everything we needed, and remembered us and our drink orders. He made our dinner fantastic, and was the reason we returned instead of going to a different restaurant. Highly recommend asking to be seated in his section!

We just stayed at the Barcelona Maya Resort for a week in March. The hotel is amazing! Beautiful grounds, amazing pools, tons of activities, good food, and great service! The beach was very nice but a little rocky. One of the amazing unexpected perks was that you can snorkel for free on site and see everything from fish to turtles to stingrays. We really enjoyed our time here and will surely be back next year. We especially liked and appreciated one of our servers Alex Dominguez. He was great. He taught us some Spanish and took the time and effort to acknowledge our son on his 12th Birthday!! If you are headed to this resort anytime soon ask to sit with Alex Dominguez in the buffet.

Alex Dominguez and Patricia Jimenez are fantastic! They are our favorite servers at the Tropical Buffet. The food is excellent and the service is better. My glass was full and the table consistently cleared with a smile. This buffet is run like Swiss watch. The coordination and attention to detail is the best I have seen at an all inclusive buffet. The food has been great, and the service, cleanliness, presentation, and overall feel have truly impressed us.

Wife, baby, and myself had a tasty meal on Spanish night at the Barcelona Maya Tropical buffet. Great made-to-order tacos with amazing salsas. Our server Jose Gomez and bus man Oscar Santos provided world class service. Eating out with an infant is difficult, but the staff made dinner so easy for us. Thanks Jose and Oscar!

Marco Mora, Caesar Ramiro, and Abdiel are the greatest most helpful guys in the place! Run don’t walk here for your next vacation! The beach is clean and beautiful and the amenities are plentiful!

    Volleyball and shows!!!

A great week at the beach playing volleyball with Cesar and the rest of the HIGH ENERGY activities staff. Loved water aerobics too! Never a dull moment and laughter abound! Will definitely return next year!!!!

The evening shows are wonderful. Saw the Circus show last night and was amazed by the strength, flexibility and showmanship of the actors. Very entertaining!!

Breakfast was FANTASTIC thanks to Alfredo Bacabchi. His smiling face and great service was a nice start to each day 😊😊😂

Beautiful resort, good food but was really disappointed in the staff. My husband proposed while there and asked if they could help make it special and they did nothing / recommended nothing. Would not go here for a celebration or anything other than a very basic vacation with not much night life. Also found the "security" sleeping in the lobby on two occasions.

Review of Buffet Restaurant at the Maya Tropical. The buffet restaurant at the Maya Tropical is the best one I have access to while staying at the Barceló Maya Beach. Great service and good quality food. Antolín Rojas was our waiter and he made sure that all of our needs were met; he has great customer service skills.

I did enjoy this place, don't get me wrong, but it seems no matter where I go there always seems to be a lack of activities to do, and I participated in every single one (except dancing). I quickly found myself doing the same things over and over again .

One thing I will say is that the food-related staff were very welcoming, and the food was appetizing as well. I thought the whole place was very upscale and well maintained.

Unfortunately on our last day, we were packing our things, and we noticed that one of our prescribed snorkels went missing. Since that thing is $500, we kept it very close to us, and we left it on the glass table in the room. When we came back it was gone, right after the room was cleaned. Unfortunately we came to the conclusion that one of the cleaning staff had stolen our snorkel thinking that it was just a generic one.

And this is not the first time I've seen cleaning staff acting suspicious. I've walked past rooms being cleaned and I see staff looking through visitor's possessions and looking at me while I pass by.

I can't recommend this place because I'm afraid of losing valuables the next time I come back, which is probably never to be honest.

Awesome resort and hotel! We had an excellent stay in Riviera Maya and we enjoyed every aspect of our vacation! Food and restaurants were great. The selection of activities and the staff were awesome (especially Brandon!) The beach and every view from the resort is gorgeous and there are lots of things to keep you busy! Definitely would return to Barcelo Maya Grand Resort!!

The bathroom lights flicker. The staff not as nice as they should be. Had problems with the luggage. Had to pick it up myself when I was told someone would take it to my room for me. The pool and beach are nice. Room is big and balcony is looks to the pool.

The public areas, grounds, facilities, pools, and beaches are very clean. The rooms in the Tropical are not five star. The smell of mold is prevalent and I found white mold and black mold in our room. I asked to be moved and the second room was an improvement but the smell of mold was still In the air. The mattresses are poor quality, hard, and old and something I would expect in a Motel 6. The resort is sold as "all inclusive" but the buffets are equivalent to bland nursing home food and you only get two opportunities to try "nicer" restaurants on site. We went to Santa Fe and the rib eye steak was thin and over cooked (I ordered Medium, I received Well Done). We tried the buffet at The Deluxe several times because it was a little better but on our last day we discovered we were not allowed to eat there because it was only for Deluxe guests or we would need to pay more $$! So much for "all inclusive." The only thing I actually liked about this resort were the beaches and pool areas. The views of the gulf were gorgeous. Unfortunately this place did not leave me with any desire to return.
