We came here just for lunch and to enjoy the beautiful view. The view is stunning and really worth the trip. But the food was a bit disappointing. It's quite expensive for Burmese standards so you would expect high cuisine. First of all there's hardly any option for vegetarians. So we had to choose the vegetable pizza and a tomato salad. They were both not very interesting in flavour and frankly quite greasy. But what can you expect from a local restaurant serving western food? The strawberry smoothie excellent though!

Popa Mountain Resort was utter bliss. We arrived very early morning (night bus from Yangon) and stayed just one night leaving at midday the next day, but it was the perfect amount of time to rest, relax and enjoy that amazing view. 2 nights might have been too much.

The rooms are superb, though dated, they add to the old-skool vibe of the place - Myanman is a place forgotten in time somewhat and it won't stay that way for long, so we loved soaking it up while we could!

We walked to the Popa Taungkalat temple directly from the hotel (try to go early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat!) and it was a moderately difficult hike, but worthwhile and made us feel less guilty for all the calories we consumed at the awesome hotel breakfast!!

After the walk, we just loved spending our time at the pool or chilling out on our room balcony with that amazing view.

Highly recommend a stay here if you have the time and the budget!! One of our highlights in Myanmar.

The best place ever in Popa. Whenever I visit Popa this place is a number one to go in my list. You have to give entrance fee of 2$/person if you don't order any food from the restaurant. The view from above is fantastic and the air is fresh and cold.

One of the best hotel i ever seen. Located in the garden of Mount Popa. Can see mount Popa from the hotel room. Beautiful sunset form the view point. Organic garden in the compound.

Popa Mountain Resort has a breathtaking view of Taung Ka Lat, the monastery. We reached the resort at around 5 in the evening, just in time to take in the stunning sunset from one of the balconies. I am not easily impressed, but that sight of the sun setting behind the temple, perched on top of a small hill, blew me away.

The rooms are nice and cosy and made entirely of wood. Since the resort is located within the Popa Mountain park, there are all manners of plants and trees to be found within its premises. We stayed at the resort towards the end of December and it can get quite cold at night during that time of the year. So pack your woollens accordingly.

The food and the service were also exceptional. The portions were large and more than enough for a single person. I would like to single out the breakfast as one of the best I have had in a hotel/resort in terms of quality and variety. Since there are not a lot of things to do once you are at the resort itself (it is situated on a mountain, after all), I would suggest not spending more than 2 days here (unless, of course, you plan to use it as a base for exploring Bagan).

Truly spectacular location! Wow! Beautiful hotel with a full view of Mt. Popa. I was here for lunch after a day trip to Mt Popa and was absolutely blown away by the location, food and service. The food was delicious. I will be spending a few days at this hotel when I return to Bagan next time.

Went there for lunch. The view is gorgeous. You can see taung ka Lat pagoda directly. If you just want to have a view and taking pictures, you will have to pay 2usd. Free for diners. Try a few dishes, food are mediocre. Price are high compared to other restaurants. I guess we pay for the Ambience. 4* for the hotel and 3* for the food.

This resort is truly lovely with great views and a calming atmosphere. Unfortunately we asked to take the 1pm shuttle to bagan, confirmed at around 12:30 that we would like to take the shuttle, then at 1:30 asked where it was. The receptionist didn't understand that we wanted to take the shuttle so we had missed it (despite the fact that we were literally sitting in the front area waiting) so we would have to take a 40USD taxi. Since that's outrageous and we were already frustrated, we called a different company we had found in bagan to pick us up for significantly less.
Food and drink are very very expensive and we found that the language barrier was too much (this is not the first place we stayed in Myanmar so we do have an idea of what to expect).

After climbing the Mt Popa we visited the resort restaurant for lunch. The view was super-duper. I took a lot of photos. The atmosphere made us very fresh and we felt as if we were at another planet. We ordered Jasmin tea (very expensive US$7) and regular sized Hawaiian pizza (US$10 cheap enough). The taste of pizza is much different from other countries or places (feel the full local flavor especially tomatoe sauce but less inclusive of meats). But worth for money because of the view. I wish I could stay at least a night at the resort next time.
