Me and my family had a very enjoyable time at Ranga's beach hut. The accomodation, food and staff were excellent. The hotel even organized a Safari on request to Kumana bird sanctuary, where we had an excellent time. Along with stunning views from the hotel, Ranga's beach hut is an easy recommendation to almost everyone.

Nice and cheap place to live (rooms from $8 per night)

But do not book breakfast. According to "booking", they have "good American breakfast". But in reality you choose 1 dish and 1 drink from breakfast menu and it cost less then if you booked it in advance

The best and most affordable place to eat good quality food.
Good variety of dishes including vegetarian dishes, and every week in high season they have fish Barbecue at the beach.
The staff is very friendly and the place has a great vibe. I made some nice friends every time I came here.

The food is good, rooms are cheap in low season, but please you have to clean the toilets, all of them. It was completely disgusting.

The place is calm and quiet and near the beach. Eventhough it was off season there was a bit of a crowd in there. They had bbq fish and buffet in Sunday Eve which was really great.

Simple accomodation for a very cheap price. Nice decoration. Staff very welcoming and very helpful. The dinner set menu was delicious : fusion western/Sri lankan food.
Really glad we visited during off season.

Lovely people /owners, beautiful location, a little beach break right outside the hostel, ridiculously cheap, food is great as well but you can find even better if you walk a few minutes. May be a bit basic but that's what I love about it. And what's not to love about your own little Hut on the beach?

Been there for more than 2 weeks, stayed in the old cabanas and in the new ones just right in front of the beach, cannot tell any bad things about the place, good food, friendly workers and good location.

there wasn't much food selections. maybe because of the off season and we came in the evening. we ordered fish fried rice which was good and large portion. good service and a quiet place. close to the beach. recommended. 👍

A very friendly and cozy place to stay. The rooms are very basic but provide everything you need. The staff is friendly and they provide fast and good priced food.

Food was nice still little price though.
Restaurant is in the middle of sand. So I should be aware of ants.

And they have a hut for accomodation. And there was a mouse there.

Easily this is the most popular low budget place in Arugam Bay. Tasty local food. Usually consumed on a huge common table. Has a bit of a boarding school character not suitable for everyone. But popular with young travelers who seek Company of likeminded nomads. Busy all year round.

Great vibe with beautiful tree houses so close to the beach the waves will smooth you to sleep. A bit of a backpackers paradise but I'm sure will appeal to many other types of travellers. Mealtimes are never the same with a different special each night. We loved it here!
