The place is really nice and calm. Ideal for family but food is a bit expensive so try your taste buds out in Arugam Bay town you get a lot of amazing places to eat.

Probably one of the best places for dining in the area. Only down side is that the kitchen closes early and the orders take a while to be prepared. But the food is really fresh and well flavoured so the wait might be worth it.

Luckily we (group of 4) only made a reservation for 1 night. The price/quality is very bad. Although the surroundings of the hotel are beautiful (hence, at the beach) and the appartment looks appeiling from the outside there is a huge catch. We had the groundfloor (2 fairly expensive rooms and shared living room) But the following points convinced us to never come back again.
- cockroaches inside the appartment
- the bathroom worse than a hostel (no water running out of showerheads of either room, no hot water, no soap, Result: showering under the tap with cold water and no soap
- same towels for the beach as for the shower (in our case it didn´t matter because the shower didn´t work anyway)
- very dirty sheets and curtains
- no functioning A/C in 1 room and in the other room there was no A/C but instead there were 2 fans present none of which was above the bed, result: 0 effect
- Open windows in the apartment (with no glass) -> very theft vulnerable (basically squared holes in the wall covered by spatial wooden sticks)
- everything either rusted (fridge/lamps) or covered with layers of dust (even the magazines were old from 2011)
In conclusion:
Terrible price/quality, pay 4 star, get a hostel.
The surroundings are nice and the appartment from the outside but because of the lack of maintencance inside we will not return. Is a pitty cause if they would just invest a little and mantain it they could have a real 4 star hotel.response / report this review -

me and three of my friends stayed here stay was absolutely amazing staff was really nice. we stayed at their family cabana cabana was spacious and very clean I highly recommend stardust

One of the oldest and still very much original Arugam Bay hotel. Danish management. Muslim staff. Well run and clean. Good ocean side location. This place suffered badly in the 2004 Tsunami.

One of the best place to stay in Arugam bay! Great people, clean, on the beach side.
If you are traveling with a family or just wish to have a quite place. .This is the place.
For Yoga classes and professional masage ask for YAEL she give amazing treatment and if you are a surfer like myself with any sore body part- YAEL will fix it. She have classes every day at 9:45 am and 6 pm ( no classes on Saturday )response / report this review -

This hotel is so well designed it does not even look like an hotel but like a peaceful retreat. Food from Samath is great, both western and eastern. Kevin and Yala offer some of the most impressive Yoga classes I have ever had in the beautiful beachfront Yoga Hall. Real luxury, not just many listed useless features.
