This place has a historical value, there are some ruined stupa and stachu with few buildings. it is pleasure to see a office of archeology department.

SITUATION: This ancient site is situated at Etabendiwewa near Dambulla in the District of Matale.
RUINS : There are the remains of a Stupa and a Vatadage damaged by vandals.These are other ruins are found in a terrace raised above the ground and retained by a wall. There are also a piller inscription and slab inscriptions belongs to the 10th century. Caves with Driped Edge can be seen in the mountain above the ruins
HISTORY : The ruins at this site date from the pre-christian era to about 11th century A.C. The ancient name of the site as given in one inscription is Buthgamuwa monastry.
