  Polonnaruwa Gal Potha ( Stone Book) is a large stone inscription found next to the Sath Mahal Prasada. This Stone book is consists of three main sections a, 26 feet and 10 inch in length and 4 feet and 7 inch in width. This was done during the time of king Nissankamalla, who ruled Sri Lanka during 1187-1196.

  Gal Potha (Stone Book) is one of the famous works of King Nissanka Malla (1187-1196) which describes himself, his rule and the eligibility for being a king of Sri Lanka. This massive slab which is 26’10” feet (8.2 meters) long and 4’7” feet (1.4 meters) in breath has been brought form Mahiyangana area by the worriers of King Nissanka Malla (1187-1196). The text is written in 3 columns and contain over 4300 characters in 72 lines.

  Se trata de una enorme piedra tallada con escrituras situada en la parte antigua de la ciudad de Polonnaruwa, en la parte del cuadrilátero, donde se concentran variados monumentos de gran importancia.
  Está en la zona de pago de la ciudad, cuyo precio es 25$ por persona, o 3300 rupias, muy caro pero merece la pena.
