  My girlfriend and I had an amazing experience! Our cabin was amazing. The entire property was just gorgeous. The staff was friendly and spoke English. I highly recommend getting the package with the Hida beef dinner and breakfast. After dinner we sat around the fire in there lobby and drank atsukan. We would go back!!

  Absolutely exceptional experience. Perfect traditional ryokan experience with the warmest staff and service. The food was a true embodiment of the season with course after course of unique, skillful dishes. Strongly recommended to anyone visiting Japan and looking for true ryokan and kaiseki experience.

  Excellent Riyukan just outside of Takayama. It's a 15 minute car ride from the train station, but the hotel provides free hourly shuttle in mornings and afternoons. Definitely the best place to stay near Takayama

  Best Japanese experience. Lovely setting, building, nice onsen, and the food and service was excellent. I'd suggest that they add electric heaters in the rooms instead of fuel powered and upgrade the carpet, but those are minor.

  Wanosato is fabulous! Amazingly beautiful scenery plus the most delicious food, I would like to call it banquet, make the stay a heavenly experience. The staffs speak good English and very hospitable. Wanosato is truly the home in Takayama.
