Pleasant stay. Dinner and breakfast was delicious and service was perfect. I also like the rooftop hot bath and sauna. during your stay you wear the traditional Yukata or a Kimono. Only thing I would like to point negative, was that after the dinner in the room, you are basically reminded the whole night about the delicious hida beef smell. The beer was also quite expensive (ca. 2000), yet our fault that we did not check the prices upfront.

Good food, great location. We really enjoyed our stay. The river noise might not be for everyone, but this area is super quiet in the evening after all the shop closes. The tatami style room is a bit dated but is super clean. Will be back to enjoy Takayama again in the future.

Never been in a Japanese room before, so a whole new experience. The room was unexciting but the food was amazing! Can't describe how good it was. Really getting used to the Onsen too.

Convenient location with in-room dinner which is rare (they even offer hida beef!). Generally nice view from room. Breakfast is also abundant with high quality food.
You can also request a free pickup or drop off service with a 7-seater van. Great service.
But the hot spring isn't too amazing. The female one is indoor and not quite big. Might be a bit stuffy if there are more people. There is another bath at a small building just next to the hotel which is conserved from a historical house where 2 famous scholars were raised. Not bad.response / report this review -

Perfect.. All staff are very freindly. U have to try japanese traditional fine dining. Try the Onsen too.. Only 5 min to old town, 20 min to station. U can order for pick up service

Friendly staff and convenient location near the old town. It's a good place to stay while you plan for visit to the various traditional villages like Shinagawa-go and Hida. Traditional Japanese bath house setup with breakfast and dinner provided.

What an experience!! All-round excellence her, with superb service, fantastic food, great location, very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Nice roykan in a very central location, only a short walk from the Jinya. I found the staff particularly friendly and we chatted with them while they served dinner. The onsen on the 7th floor has a nice view out over the city. On another trip I stayed in the main building across the road and good as the annex is, the rooms feel a little older in comparison.
