This hostel is very clean and very reasonable. They allow you to drop off your bags early while you explore Kyoto. The cafe downstairs is very good but messed up my order multiple times.
Very noisy, not only outside but inside from other customers. Strongly not recommend.
Compared to all the other hostels we stayed at in Japan, this one was the worst. The rooms are noisy (street and guests), bed mattresses are worn and uncomfortable and the facilities aren't great. For example, there's only one bottle of hand soap available on Level 2 for all four floors. Also, there were just 4 showers / skinks for the whole hostel.
Wi-fi has been terrible throughout our stay. They shouldn't be using wireless repeaters as it's very sensitive to interfere when you have that many people connecting.
Perfect location super friendly staffs the beds were clean and comfortable . toilets in each floor so pretty convenient four clean bathrooms so u don’t have to wait long small though the breakfast menu in the cafe , which is in the first floor will not disappoint you I recommend the yummy pancakes well, good place to stay while visiting kyoto
and yeah, the price is very cheap
We were so impressed about many things in this hostel. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and were tended to daily by housekeeping. The beds themselves had privacy screens and the bedding was a good weight for the summer. The dorm rooms were air conditioned at night so sleep was comfortable. The guesthouse faces a busy street so there is some Noise but generally the streets quiet down at night so it was not a problem. The common area was also small so people generally gathered in the cafe several floors below the dorm rooms and helped others get a good night's sleep.
The hostel had one shared washer and dryer available for a fee, and had lockers and computers to use free of charge. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and all around the place had a quiet and peaceful vibe. We also enjoyed a couple tasty pancakes and iced coffees in the morning at the cafe! Overall everything was excellent for a hostel and I would recommend to anyone who wants an affordable, safe, friendly place to stay near all the action In Kyoto.
Nice place, overall. Don't like much the way they try to save water usage (that's good thing, i do not object) by automated water tap controller, which mean water stops running every minute! Well, i had to spend double the time in bathroom pointlessly. Besides, everything was great.
Cheap but simple hostel. I would like to come back there if i want a cheap hostel.
Relaxing atmosphere, room was clean. Nice waiter at the bar (Dad of the owner). Had a long & interesting conversation with him, he gives out free popcorn by the time and hostel guests get a discount on the drinks/food.
Terrible Service. I'm not exaggerating here. We came in, the waitress was on her laptop, we went to sit down and she said "No, order here then sit down." So we did, as she handed me my change she said "here." We sat down, the food was mediocre and the coffee was burnt. Another couple came in, sat down, grabbed a menu and she didn't look up once to help or even greet them. The pancakes are premade and smothered with fake chocolate sauce. Do not go here, there's so many better places in Kyoto.
Good hostel overall. Facilities are comfortable and clean. In dorms there is space under the bunk beds to place the luggage. It does not have a big common room though, so it is very quiet.
