Had a pleasant stay. Host was reachable and responding to all queries.
Clean, cozy comfortable guest inn featuring traditional Japanese futon beds and comforters and takami mats on the floor. Awesome water pressure in the shower/tub. Fast, free, reliable wifi. Heating, air-conditioning and lighting controls. Cable TV. Dressing table and mirror. Kettle, microwave and extra towels downstairs. Nice location about two minutes from Nishi Hongwangi temple. About 15 minutes walk from Kyoto station. Quiet residential street. NO noise at night. Welcoming owners. I recommend the sweet Guest Inn Kyoto to travelers who wish a local style experience.
Nice stay.
Great rooms. Great staff, very friendly. A little bit small but very clean and just what you need if you don't plan on spending a long time in your room.
Had a friend over for a few hours in the morning and charged me ¥4,000 more yen. Robbed me and threatened to call the police. Don't go to this place, not worth it.
What I liked: The owner gave us a lot of useful information regarding what to do and where to go. Everything was thought of in the en-suite room including a hair dryer, mirrors, toothbrush and towel. We weren't disturbed by people coming and going at all hours and the doors didn't slam.
What I didn't like: The bed didn't look freshly clean as there was a small stain and a few hairs that weren't mine. We weren't shown how to unlock the front door at night so we had to disturb the staff to be able to get back in.
I've stayed a couple of times in Kyoto. Every time I go, I choose this Inn for its price. The owner is quite kind, and has a very good grasp in the coming and goings of the city.
He has great tourism booklets that he lends free of charge.
The Inn does not have a WiFi Connection, which is a problem at times. Other than that, the place is quite cozy and exactly what you would ask from a Ryokan.
