Nothing fancy. But located just about a 15 minute walk away from Ikebukuro station- which is fairly major. Some points given for free coffee in the mornings.

Just 5 minutes from JR Ikebukuro station. Facilities are clean even though they're a little bit old. If you don't speak Japanese, it will be hard to communicate with the manager.

Small rooms, got a smoking room but booked a non-smoking. No shelves or wardrobe to unpack clothes in so you have to live out of the suitcase. Stayed in a single room. Other rooms might be bigger and have better storage. Restaurant serves breakfast but there are better places for same price or lower just around the corner. Breakfast was not included in the room rent. Rooms were clean and had a fridge and waterkettle. Check-in at 15:00

Rooms are great value. Ikebukuro is a great place to stay around Tokyo as there is so much to do and see around your hotel every morning and night with more food options than you could ever imagine. The walk from Newstar to ikebukuro station every day was a highlight as well as having both tobu and seibu flagship department stores at the station.
