We had a great tour to Petra. Went all the way to monastery. Highly recommend to stop by a cave run by a New Zealand woman who married a Bedouin and buy her book called “ Married to a Bedouin”.

Definitely worth the visit. Make sure you hike up to the Monastery that is far better than the treasury. Worth the visit you will be rewarded with a cold drink at the top.

Beautiful place that you must visit. Go there later in the day if possible. The park does not close before all tourists leave the park and it's not as crowded as in the morning. You might get the treasury all to yourself. Didn't like all the horses and donkeys running everywhere.

Amazing scenery, the horse and trap drivers are verging on dangerous but useful if you only want to see the treasury. Lots of walking for the best experience but be aware the surface is uneven with a long slope to walk back up. Toilets and drinks available at various places.

Petra is one of those places you need to visit if you ever have the chance. It can take hours to get there on a bus,especially if you are coming from Amman, but it's worth the drive. If you have a Jordanian passport, entry is $1, for the rest of us tourists, entry runs $75USD per person. Not sure if kids are less. Plan on several hours of walking, and get a map. The best way is to go directly to the very back of the park and take your time coming back. It will take 60-90 min briskly walking the 4km to the back, and 3+ hours coming back and exploring the area. The route is lined with souvenir stands, so don't get attached to anything and negotiate hard. Water can be brought in, so carry at least half a gallon per person. I went in with a gallon and was empty 5hrs later getting on the bus. Drinks are expensive, expect $2-$5 per drink and type of drink. Negotiate the price for everything. Overall it's a great time, just do a little planning and carry some water.

This is one of the modern wonders of the world. There's not much to say about it that hasn't been said but it's an awe-inspiring inspiring sight. The site is far larger than you might imagine so my best advice to is to ensure you have a minimum of two days here. You absolutely cannot do it justice and see all the highlights in one. I've met people on hurried tours that have as little as 3 hours, which is crazy. You'll see the Treasury (the famous facade from Indiana Jones) but nothing much else. There are two significant climbs, one to the place of high sacrifice, closers to the Treasury, and one to the Monastery, right towards the far end of the main site. The former is not visually impressive for the actual construction, such as exists, however the views from the top are good. The Monastery by comparison is another architectural wonder and the mountain and desert views are staggering, so I'd prioritise that. If possible, visit both but stagger them over two days and try to do each in the morning as early as possible before the sun gets too hot. It's much easier that way. In addition to this there is the king's tomb, the Roman church, a temple and countless other things you should make an effort to see. You will get constantly hassled to take donkey and camel rides by the Bedouins who live on the site, so it will require patience, though it will be rewarded.

Aptly described as one of the seven wonders. A place that takes you back a few thousand years in history, and offers plenty in terms of adventure in the various hiking trails that you can choose to experience. Demands two days of your time if you want to do justice to it as a traveller. Magnificent.

One of the unforgettable experience of my life. Be sure to wear comfy shoes and carry water, cap as it will be hot. Better to stay overnight in the nearby hotels to enjoy the beauty of Petra at night. I bought the sand art bottles from the souvenir shop outside the entrance gate. It is said that the colored sand is natural color of Petra mountains. The Best View point of The Treasury on top of the hill is a worth going place despite almost 600 stone stairs. A cup of local tea there will refresh you.

With so much history and culture of a old civilization surrounding me at Petra, the less I say the better. The beauty of surrounding canyons, valleys, mountains, and geological formations is awesome. Take your time to enjoy the place. Carry sun protection and water. Interact with the pleasant local Bedoin people and drink tea with them. It is an experience of a lifetime.

Jordan is filled with rich history and wish the world would aid in excavating more of it. Petra is awe inspiring to think that humans crafted something so long ago and it still is a sight to behold. There is A LOT of walking so don't think this is just a quick trip or visit and bring shoes comfortable to walk uneven terrain all day.

من اجمل الاماكن في العالم , عندما تصل الى مدينة البتراء تجد في بدايتها مركز استقبال مدينة البتراء حيث يوجد مدرج صغير للاستراحة ويوجد حمامات ، ومكان لشراء تذاكر الدخول ، ثم الانطلاق الى المدينة الأثرية ، في بداية المشوار يوجد ممر مشاة ترابي بطول حوالي الكيلو متر يؤدي إلى السيق ( ممر جميل ورائع محفور بين جبلين ) وينتهي هذا السيق الى داخل المدينة الأثرية حيث المتعة والجمال .
عندما تدخل هناك تشعر بأنك في عالم رائع وامام حضارة لا يستهان بها

The site itself is amazing however all the vendors competing for your money can be a little distracting if you are not made aware of what to expect. This should not in anyway put you off visiting and is a small price to pay to see this incredibly and wonderful site.

A true wonder of the world! You can see pictures of the place, but nothing will prepare you for the moment of first seeing the Treasury building after walking through the slot canyon.

The site is actually pretty big and can take a full day to explore if you choose.

Amazing place. Great scenery. Best time to go can vary and also your opinion. December - January is usually empty. Many locals who have horses, donkeys, mules, etc. who offer you rides. There are also carriages you can ride from the entrance of Petra to the treasury. Many mini-markets in and out of Petra which sell cold drinks and snacks. Also there are souvenir shops. I went in May of 2017 while the weather was nice at night (around 20*C) and warm during the day (around 25*C). 50JD if you are a holder of a non Arab passport and 12+. 1JD for an Arab passport holder and 12+. Anyone with any kind of passport under 12 gets in free as I was lucky because I went to Petra before I was 12 and I’m a Canadian passport holder. Totally recommended and there are plenty of more things to explore in Jordan such as Wadi Rum, Dead Sea, Amman, and more.

This place is absolutely amazing. Make sure to take plenty of water and stay hydrated. There are tons of places to explore and you can end up far away from where you entered. The locals are awesome. I stayed in town at a hostel and slept on the roof. The food was amazing. Such a warming, beautiful experience in South Jordan! Jordan people, you are amazing!

An incredible place sadly the site is not cared for and needs resources for infrastructure that benefit local people in the long term rather than short term greed. A new multi million dollar museum at the entrance does not assist in preserving the site internally which is desperately in need of management. Sad for a truly unique and remarkable site like no other.

Truly a place to see once in your life. Unfortunately it's very busy but if you go later in the day and hang around until sunset it's much less crowded. Make sure to see the Monastery, the views from up there are Incredible.

One of the most amazing places I've ever been. If you're in Israel or Jordan make sure you find the time to visit Petra - you will not regret it! Paying for one of the animals isn't worth it in my opinions and make sure you don't give the children selling things any money (the brochure explicitly mentioned that).

This place is very mesmerizing! It's one of the most beautiful places I've been to. I've actually lived in Jordan and my family used to take every quest coming from another country to visit us to Petra of how interesting and one of a kind it is! It's a must see!

Petra remains is the biggest remains in Jordan. It's big remains so that it's necessary for about 2 days to see everything and go around. That remains is big, the entrance charge is also high. The narrow path what the seeking which is an entrance to Petra is seems to seem to be also falling by a rock from the top where. Just passing here and adventuring, they seem able to taste a sense excitedly. By the way, because I say the natural geological feature fault shaved with encroachment of water, not the reason shaved artificially smoothly, this is surprise. There is sometimes an event which can enjoy the remains lit up in the evening. But, it's extra charge. Even if I say a light up, it's only the light of a candle. It doesn't seem flashy and the fantastic atmosphere can be enjoyed wetly. It's really wide, so when going to sightseeing, the shoes I tend to walk, the blind and the after water are indispensable.

These ruins are a worth visiting more than once. A wonderful experience I would recommend it to any one. One thing to point is thst one has to be prepared to do a lot of walking in a very hot environment with temperatures in the low 40s.

Self explained by one of the world 7 wonders.
Yet, I thought it is all about the Treasury Building as I've seen on photos and TV program. The truth is Petra is a big city that has more that 3000 sites in which 800 are important.
To visit Petra you need to be ready with hiking gear and comfortable clothes. It requires a lot of walking and may stairs claiming.
