Absolutely central location to all the sights, which can be accessed by walk. Getting to the hotel from the train station is a breeze, with high speed trains to other parts of Italy/Europe, so convenience factor pretty high up.Situated right across the river Arno, which makes for an ultra cool vibe. Westin beds, conceirge service etc are already known. What stood out was the outstanding breakfast spread, easily the healthiest and widest offering (50+ dishes). This one thing is enough to head back.

I have stayed here many times. My love never fades for Florence. The location of this hotel is perfect for accessing the city, renting cars and getting around. It is quiet and there are some great restaurants in quick walking distance.

I've been traveling with my wife for 20 days throughout Europe Portugal, Spain, Nice and in Italy Rome, Florence and Venice all 5-star Hotels.
In Venice the Westin is a HUGE rip-off. They charged 100 Euros for 2-double screw drivers $9.00 for bottled water. We shared a salad my wife had pasta and I had fried calamari for $247.00. In that included a cover charge of $24.00 they charge their guests to eat at their restaurant.
I am extremely disappointed. We've also stayed at many, many Westin's around the world and I will never frequent another one again.

Service was great. Rooms were beautiful and clean. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast buffet was fresh and delicious. Great variety.

The first impression that hits you is the sheer beauty and historic feel when entering the lobby. Incredible staff, rich warm woodwork and sculpted architecture quickly take you away. If possible, request a room with balcony overlooking the Arno River. Our suite was 5th floor and had a spectacular morning view and a truly entertaining evening view, watching the city bustle below.
The rooms have a historic feel, very comfortable and luxurious beds. Yes, the bathrooms are not the most modern gadgetry out of Paris or NYC, but that is not what this 5 star hotel is about. The Excelsior is about rich luxury in a traditional Tuscan style.
Literally within walking distance to fine restaurants, shopping and the Acadamiethe Excelsior is a perfect place to stay while in Florence.response / report this review -

It was our anniversary. Hotel staff was extra helpful and have us a room facing the river. The view was spectacular. The room itself was well appointed with all amenities you could think of. Housekeeper turned in the room for the night and left us a bottle of champagne with biscotti. Needless to say this will be the hotel we will stay at the next time we are in Florence.

Excellent location with luxurious accommodations.
Walk to all the main attractions. Statue of David,
Enter the exquisite churches to see the magnificent
architecture and ancient paintings. Hotel Located near Ponte Vecchio cross the bridge and take a tour of the castle. Luxury linens, delicious breakfast at this hotel. Perfect hotel for your walkable sightseeing. Take the train to go to Venice! Train station is in town nearby!response / report this review -

I love staying at this hotel. One of my favourite hotel in Italy. Best service in Europe. Friendly staff at the reception and at breakfast.
