Bathroom was quite bad w toilet being broken, light switch very hard to find and basic toiletries missing for the price of the hotel. Breakfast wasn't great either. AC didn't work. Curtains didn't totally close and there was bright light in front of the window (from the same hotel it seems).
On the bright side reception staff are nice and the laundry was done super quickly and cheap. Quite centric as well.response / report this review -

The wifi if awfull, the AC is analog so you can't put the perfect degree, the is very noisy, and the breakfast is under average. The location is perfect.

Very comfortable and cozy, extra-nice staff, 5 minutes away from Duomo! Very much recommendable!

Rooms were nice and clean with a spacious washroom. Breakfast was fantastic. The hotel is in a quiter location but only a short walk to main attractions

buon hotel good , letto confortevole, bed is very good, breakfast quite good, colazione più che sufficiente, very friendly staff, wifi is good and free, no free parking, near the center of the city

Great hotel with a fantastic lobby! It is only a short walk to all the sites but just outside the crowded tourist area. The front desk staff were very helpful and were English-speaking. Overall, we had a great stay at Hotel Athenaeum.

Work on the details: Clean the carpets!, Place electrical outlets next to the beds, buy better quality mattresses, buy a mini refrigerator for the rooms, use fresher ingredients during breakfast, etc. Details matter very much to travelers. With that being said, the hotel is in a good location and has a decent bar.
