Smaller then we expected, but quite nice. There are life-sized replicas of whales and stories about them with a free audio guide that comes with your Museum ticket. I doubt you can spend more than a half hour to an hour at this place. The cafe is very nice.

A slightly odd place - big warehouse sized space housing life-sized models of a large number of whales with a digital terminal next to each one providing information about them. Sounds odd but its a strangely captivating place and well worth a visit. Very educational for children and adults alike.

An extremely well formed exhibit, that consists of many life-sized whale figures placed around a hangar area: the audio guide provided is extremely informative. if you have an hour or so, this is a great way to learn.
suitable for all ages, this fosters a great deal of sympathy for what whales have been subject to over the years.
within the hangar there is a small cafe, and a well-stocked gift shop.

It was a cute little museum? A small Hall full of whales and all sorts of fish. In their original size which was incredible to walk under and amongst. Taking photos was not easy as it's very dark in there. If you don't mind paying bit of money on your hols than its worth it. It has a cafe inside so parents can take a little time out whilst children explore the underwater world.

Pretty expensive but very informative. The whale displays are really cool but unfortunately most of the information pads weren't working the day I went. Luckily they also have the audio tour. The cafe was nice as well! Recommend for kids and people who really like whales.

we are a family of whale lovers. And we find this museum fantastic. The presentation is extremely tasteful and the audio guide very informative. We would like to download it and listen to it at home! We found out so many things we didn’t know before. Highly recommend!

Superb attraction with life sized whales and dolphins. Audio commentary and interactive stations provide the educational element but the sheer wonder of walking around these enormous displays is hard to express

Not a huge exhibit, but very personal. The ability to stand next to life size replicas gives a very intimate experience that you don’t get from museum displays.

They have an audio guide (mp3 + headphones in multiple languages) that was very informative, with many uncommonly know facts. I took my teenage son there (who is extremely knowledgeable on ocean mammals) and he was impressed.

Took about 1 hour to complete.

Added bonus: you are allowed to touch all the whale models.

Something to do in Reykjavik! I bit of a walking trek on foot if your hotel is central, but do-able even in the snow. Huge full sized models of Earth's largest animals, with an informative audio guide.

A very unique experience given in a very informative manner. Lots of information to take in and a great perspective view of the whales of the area. Life size models and in depth explanations of the whales were very memorable, along with a well designed layout, meaning you can literally put a hand inside the models for that real life comparison. The staff were very helpful, the museum has lots of car parking in front and is also only a 15 minute walk from the centre of Reykjavik.

A great place to take the kids. It is simple but very informative setup. There are headphones with a lot of information available in many languages. There is a free app that also has all the information.
Easy to get around and you can keep a eye on the kids easy

We visited the Whales museum after being suggested from a local tourist geek! It was an incredible experience as it was the first time getting informed for the different whales species! We learned many stuff for the Willy, blue whales and we saw a real skeleton of a blue whale that was decorating the museum's cafe! The price was 21£ pp which was reasonable for getting an MP3 device that allow us to be self-guided in the area! If you love the nature, mammals and have a genuine curiosity for the sea life is a must place to visit!

Waited 20 minutes for someone to come to the desk for us to pay. Paid the equivalent of £30 eventually and it was not worth the money at all. Foam whales hanging from the ceiling, most with chunks taken out of them from small children grabbing them, and a DVD from 1998 playing on repeat in the corner. If there is nobody at the desk I recommend you just walk in for free as we saw others doing as it's not worth paying more than £2 for.

If you are keen to expand your whale wisdom I would recommend a visit here whale you are in Iceland. Whale it's not the largest facility, it is whale organized. Whale you are here you can see many extraordinary exhibits. I wish I could have stayed longer but as you whale know, business calls.

Nice display out in the harbour. Getting there by car or bus is recommended. The exhibition takes about 20 min to go through so don’t plan to spend a whole afternoon here.

Nice museum to view the different kinds of whales. They are replica's so no whales have been harmed.

Visited on very wet and windy day. Was not too sure what to expect and admit to being a wee bit disappointed. The exhibits of model whales hanging from the ceiling was impressive but just looked a bit false, not quite sure how it could have been done better tho. The iPod sound didn't work properly and I ended up use the ap which was ok.

It was an interesting display of the different whales and you get a feeling on how big they are before going for your whale watching trip.

Fantastic exhibit. Very interactive - you can actually touch the fake whales and they made them out of a material that feels like what I would guess a whale feels like. The audio tour (app based) is very nice. I great way to spend 1-2 hours indoors in Reykjavik.

This attraction is best enjoyed by those who appreciate scale. Life-sized replicas of whales suspended in the air give a wondrous feel to the viewer. There is not very much science here, so expect more spectacle than education. Admission is not cheap but is on par with Iceland.

The staff was very helpful. I called in to book a tour for a group of students and the answer was fast and helpful.
The tour was very good, our guide was engaging and fun and the students had a great chance to discover a lot about whales.
I will definitely be back with more groups as the educational value of this place is very high!!

This is a good museum - the whale models are huge and plentiful and the lighting and sound effects go a long way to creating a submarine atmosphere. Typically Icelandic - there's good coffee thrown in for free. We took our 2 year old son who had a great time but flew round in about half an hour. A speedy tour meant it was an expensive trip - no charge for him but about £20 per adult. We enjoyed it, but it would be better value for older kids. Great to end the trip with a walk round the corner to Valdis ice cream parlour

Pretty basic museum about the Wales of Iceland. It does have life size models of whales.

Quite pricey for entry, however, they do offer a varied range of entry prices - including, but limited to, students, adults, etc.

Included in the ticket price is a free tea, coffee or water (I forgot to take advantage of this). They do offer other beverages and food as well at other prices.

Free WiFi through the building. This will be mainly used to download their companion app, which is an audio tour for the museum. It comes in English, German and Icelandic.
