An interesting little visitor centre and shop on all things volcanic. There's a little cinema showing a couple of films (about 55 minutes total) about recent volcanic eruptions in Iceland and their impact on the community and the world, which were very informative.

Pretty cool little volcano cinema. Included on the city card and open later than most attractions. It is very expensive but is discounted on the city card. the City Card is the smartest and most affordable way to explore Reykjavík. It has been tailor-made for visitors to the city, helping you to get the most out of your trip. Simply choose from a 24, 48, or 72-hour card and visit as many attractions as you want

It was nice to pop in and have a look at the various volcanic rocks - but we felt the video charge was a little bit too steep to warrant.

$17 for 2 films that were about 30 minutes each. They were very interesting and I learned a lot about two specific valcanos in Iceland. The stuff around the store is also very cool and you could easily be in and out of there in 15 minutes. It is connected to a cafe so we initially missed it.

Worth a visit for the 2 movies alone (approx 45 minutes) covering 2 major eruptions in recent Icelandic history. Outside the movie room, the mini museum testifies to the real sense of pride that the Icelanders feel about the geology of their astonishing island.

Very informative. Good way to fill a gap during the day if weather not good or if between trips. Go early and you may even have the cinema to yourself. Staff very friendly and helpful.

If you are interested in vulcanos this is a nice, small, overview. Movies show two famous erruptions and the displays have many different types of vulcanic rock that you can hold for close inspection.

Good stop especially with kids to show them what volcanoes are all about. Not too expensive. Hands on rock samples free of charge. Some souvenirs for sale which are cool.

I only visited the gift shop because I heard this was a good place to buy volcano salt. Don't make the same mistake I did! You can buy the black volcano salt at the grocery stores for a quarter of the price!

A hands on exhibit where you can handle various volcanic rocks. The movie they provide is below average, the exhibit is above average. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

A fantastic resource for visitors to Iceland. The geological exhibits were entertaining and the gift selection was nice, but the assistance we received in planning our week of adventures was priceless. We had a great stay in Iceland, but the most memorable parts were those suggested by Daan, who helped us find tours and hotels. If we weren't eating fish & chips next door, we may have never stopped by and that would have been a mistake!

Really interesting stuff about volcano, Icelands history and nature is much due to volcanoes which is why this is a good visit when in Reykjavik.
Takes one hour or so, enjoy a Arctic Pale Ale in cafe afterwards.
