The boat your was a little terrifying. The boat was very uncomfortable and you do not feel secure as it speeds along. Our tour guide was extremely hard to hear and did not seem as knowledgeable as other guides. The icebergs we're incredible and the seals we got to see made my day.

Can't commend on boots tour but the place itself. In begin of april there were some "icebergs" it was really slippy and dangerous so becareful if you want to take pictures there.

Weve been there in 2012. Was probably our best camping site on Iceland. Less people around then on Jokulsarlon. So we slept really good. And the amazing sounds coming from the glacier. Mistical atmosphere. I also jumped into the water. Soooo cold :D But it was on my Iceland bucket list :P

A smaller lagoon than Jökulsárlón but if you have time you can also stop by here because it’s not that far away from Jökulsárlón. Here there are also boat tours and a place to get something to eat. If it’s possible it’s probably better to come here first as a build up to Jökulsárlón.

Pretty amazing. The northern lights were phenomenal, and to be able to float and watch was an incredible experience. Showers were clean, and there is food and beer. Highly recommend

This glacial lagoon is not too far from the other more famous one, but it is still worth going here, as it has equally stunning views and a great up-close view of the glacier. There is also a restaurant which seemed nice.

This is a nice quick stopover off route 1 while driving along the southern coast of Iceland.

Nice alternative to the more famous jokulsarlon. This lake is much smaller but not crowded with tourist. The view is equally fantastic and you can get really close to the glacier without even need taking the boat tour.

Very beautiful lagoon and much quieter than its nearby larger rivals. Perhaps not as large and with fewer icebergs, but this lagoon has a prettier background with the glacier and mountains.

Great glacial lagoon. Much quieter than others, so you can have enough space to fully enjoy the beauty of the environment.
On top of that, there's a speed boat company that organize trips to see the icebergs.

It rivals joksularson in beauty. The glacier is close here, but the icebergs are smaller. I would recommend visiting both places. You can do boat tours as well

We learnt nothing from our guide - we would have been interested in Icelandic culture, history, glaciation or wildlife. Instead he ate some ice from the lake while we breathed in lots of petrol fumes. We didn't get particularly close to the glacier and had a much better time walking around the glacial lagoon by ourselves up the road. Perhaps the older guide is more informative (it certainly looked like his boat went closer to the glacier) which would explain the good reviews. For us it was a waste of time and money.

This is smaller than Jokulsarlon next door but I think this is my favorite of the two and probably my favorite place in Iceland. You have to climb up a hill from the parking lot and once you get to the top it's an amazing view. It also helps that this is not as popular so we were the only ones here which added to the awesomeness. You can see the glacier closer than Jokulsarlon.

In many ways this is even better than Jokulsarlon nearby. Fewer people, and you end up much closer to the "mouth" of the glacier. Very scenic, absolutely worth a stop.
