Location : Nice location in Vik , close to beach and supermarkets walkable

Pillows : Could have been bit firmer
Cleanliness : Clean

Heating ok at the property

Would have been nice if there was some coffee/tea making facilities for guests.

Pleasant staff, but AUD$94 for one person for one night is very mean-spirited. Compare; I have stayed in hostel rooms to myself three times the size for half the price in NZ.
Ultra steep stairs that are ultra narrow.
Clomp, clomp, clomp, clomp, clomp heard continuously - whether you are in your tiny room where nothing matches, or eating downstairs and having people move around upstairs.

I am just going to copy and paste a review from 4 months ago, for it remains valid;

Old, run down, uncomfortable and over priced.

They sold this a "historic building", but really it's old and run down. Shoddy workmanship and neglect is ruining any character this building might have.

It's a three story wooden building with 11 tightly packed rooms - expect a lot of noise from your neighbours.

Very clean and warm hostel. Kitchen fully equipped with everything so you can buy lunch / dinner from a local supermarket , in an effort to save some money! I left 4/5 stars because in the morning the lady who was cleaning, just opened the door of the room while I was inside and left it open - that happened before the time of check out! They should be more careful with that. Otherwise, everything was great.

Nice place. Thin walls make you hear everything. The kitchen is perfectly equiped and the beds are nice. Two showers are not enough if there're many guests, but they work just fine!

We would definitely not recommend this place, it's way overpriced! the walls are very thin, you can hear every conversations downstairs from your room on the 1st floor. They even tell you upfront that everybody should be quit after eleven and that you have to go and tell the other guests to be quit, which we did at 1 o'clock at night. We also called the staff but they didn't really bothered about it and that we should handle it ourselves

Good - It's right in Vik, so it's easy to get an early start in a cool area. Rooms are small and a bit dingy. Expensive for what you get even compared to other places of the same price.

Bad - The kitchen's facility isn't all that great since you can be relying on self catering in Iceland. Such as the kettle didn't actually have a power plug that fits in any of the power outlet. Makes me wonder why it's even there.

Old, run down, uncomfortable and over priced.

They sold this a "historic building", but really it's old and run down. Shoddy workmanship and neglect is ruining any character this building might have.

It's a three story wooden building with 11 tightly packed rooms - expect a lot of noise from your neighbours.

Only 2 showers makes for long queues in the evening.
Very small showers with broken fittings, doors that don't close properly and no where to put soap or amenities.

The kitchen is OK, but no freezing compartment in the fridge.

For the price we paid, this was truly the worst accommodation we had in Iceland.

The rooms were comfortable and the check-in process was very easy. WiFi wasn't working, but there were enough outlets in the room for all 3 of us to charge our electronics before the next day. We did not have trouble with being able to use the bathroom despite the number of guests staying that day. For the price, it was worth its value.

Friendly staff just one thing for minus. I can hear all the guest, is a historical wooden hostel and u hear every step and every single door. This hostel is cheep, clean and have a good location.

Based on price, you should know what you're not getting a 5 star hotel. It is such a sweet old building. The kitchen is large. We woke up early and didn't have a problem getting a shower (which were tiny).

Great little hostel. People complained about the no shoes rule and the place being old, but it is the oldest hostel in Iceland so cut it some slack, plus taking your shoes off keeps the floor clean and makes it feel more like home. Rooms were cozy, private, and quiet. Definitely the nicest beds. It was also the one place we felt like we made the most friends, even if it was only passing travellers. Very close to the black sand beach. We wish we stayed longer than a night!

This place has
nice private rooms
and Hostel style rooms it has new owners who revamped the entire Hostel. Very
comfortable beds. Nice breakfast. Good drinks. Perfect stop on the Ring road travel on way to Glaciers

Hostel is ok for a night, wouldn't recommend for longer. The room was quite small and without being able to comfortably open the window in the winter got very stuffy with 3 people. Only one power outlet.

The beds were decent and comfortable. Having to leave your shoes at the entrance was a bit inconvenient. Showers smelled bad and had mildew, WiFi was weak and stopped working, kitchen was adequate, but one of the fridges was ancient.
