Really solid and well presented hotel on the road between Reykjavik and Hofn. Very modern Scandinavian style with simple functional decor and clean lines. The rooms were well presented and well maintained. Friendly staff and a nice simple bar with a happy hour.
The rooms are nice, spacious, clean with good beds. Great bathroom. Dinner is also of a very high standard. Friendly personell. Highly recommended.
Staying here was just okay for me, my husband hated it. The vibe walking in was nice, the staff member checking us in was welcoming and helpful. The overall experience, however, felt like fake fancy. We couldn't use the fitness facilities until 9:00 which really angered my husband since he and I both are early risers who like to go to the gym first thing in the morning. We were told we had a room with a view, but the only things to see were a wall of rocks and a dumpster. Granted, the rocks had birds nestling in them, which was sweet, but I wouldn't tell guests they have a view when the beautiful beach and rock formations are nowhere to be seen.
Dinner was expensive and not that special. Breakfast was not included and cost more than we were willing to pay for the offerings.
It seems like there are better places to stay while experiencing the breathtaking beauty of Vik.
My friend and I stayed in a 2 double size bed room which was modern and clean. At the time of the stay, there was multiple BBC English channels available to watch in addition to one local Icelandic channel. The walls were quite thin however and I could hear the guests in the room next door. Enjoyed the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet which had a variety of options including lox, eggs, fruit, breads, a waffle station and the usual breakfast staples.
Good service. Medium-low breakfast (not worth the price). Great location. Modern and stylish. The room was really nice. The bathroom seems completely new which you ppreciate after a long journey. However, you can hear your neighbors coughing or even taking a shower
The Hotel was really nice. The view and the design was great. I loved the lottle village vik.
First off the pictures that were shown online does not reflect what was given to us. The pictures with a great view is in the new wing and they put us in an old wing. The room is extremely small and the beds were really hard, where it’s difficult to sleep and hurt the back. The bathroom is small and uncomfortable. Our view was the other side of the building where we could only see the elevator.
The hotel employees was nice the food was decent but not the best. The WiFi speed is 2 download 2 upload. It’s 500 ISK for 10 download and 10 upload up to three devices. The actual speed was close to what was paid for but the hotel can’t reimburse you since they outsource their internet to a third party.
I’d skip this hotel in the future.
Really great hotel and restaurant ! Rooms are nice and clean. The dishes in the restaurant are good but there is not a lot of choice.
The place is easy to access.
Would never recommend this hotel. Price for a tiny hostel style room, missing remote control, paper thin walls (you can hear EVERYTHING) and no breakfast included was more than double any other hotel we have stayed at. Photos on the website show the newer part of the hotel, do no be deceived into thinking that is what you have booked. The only silver lining was that reception staff were very understanding and helpful. Was thoroughly disappointed with our experience here.
Really beautiful hotel, right in the middle of town. We had a gorgeous room with heated bathroom floors! Breakfast was lovely but not free - I think 2900ish per person?
Great Hotel. Stayed at Icelandair Akureyri as well and this location was just as good! We ended up with a room in the Old Wing which I assumed would be an old and outdated room but to our surprise it was actually well maintained! Room was fairly spacious and the bathroom was very clean as well.
Our room was in the older, front building - certainly nothing fancy, which was a little surprising for the price, but the linens and towels were new and the room clean and quiet. Right off the Ring Road and convenient to groceries and supplies. The Icelandic front desk staffer was really nice and pleasant, the British guy not so much.
Combination of both old and new with the Hotel Edda and Icelandair Hotel. Lobby is in the new section. Very upscale like the W properties. Unusual for anywhere outside of Reykjavik.
We were in the old section. Standard size room for Iceland. Small bathroom with shower only. Clean and comfortable.
Half price drinks during Happy Hour at the well stocked lobby bar. We did not use the restaurant.
Directly across the street from an N1 gas station, Ice Wear store, and Kr grocery.
The room is very clean and large. Good location and surroundings, also if you want to cross the street to souvenir shop, you can just walk across the street. The restaurant also available very close that you can walk to.
Friendly and helpful staff, clean and spacious room. Good location with good views.
Very nice rooms. Food was good too. Highly recommended
Nice hotel and excellent food. Great location right by the spectacular black beach. Not a cheap option, but one of the nicer hotels in Iceland in the south.
Vik is not large so all areas can be accessed within 15 minutes walking. The restaurant in the hotel is one of the more expensive in Vik. They also offer a breakfast buffet to guests. It has many options both hot and cold. The food was very well done.
The rooms are sleek as described, we were in the section with only a view of the Hotel Edda. It had huge windows which felt like a waste. They were also very dirty on the outside likely an effect of the frequent storms blowing sand off the shore.
There is a gas station and convenience store just about 150 meters away.
The bathroom had a very warm floor, but the room's floor was not as warm.
Beautiful hotel in a stunning location with great views of the stacks and the ocean. Restaurant food was simply beautiful
Out of all 5 Icelandair hotels we stayed at throughout our trip, the Vik location was by far our favourite. The only one that had a gym! Extremely attractive modern design, very comfortable rooms, free parking, and some services available nearby (banks, gas, grocery stores, some restaurants, etc.). Vik is quite a small town so don't expect much in terms of entertainment! Most head out at night to certain spots along the ring road to watch the Aurora Borealis. My only issue was the lack of non-pork meats for breakfast, and the slow free wifi. Shouldn't have to pay for decent wifi speeds!
The view from our room is very special. We are watching the mountain behind the hotel. It is nice to see the seagull watching us from it's nest.
Room with enough space, nice colors. Dinner was good, breakfast has lots of choice.
We ate in the restaurant here after a loooong drive and it was quite late when we arrived. We hadn't booked and they were able to fit us in. The service was excellent. We went for a three course meal that included lobster and steak and it was one of the best meals I have had in my life!
Great hotel, we asked for 3 beds and we got a room that had a queen on the first floor and two twin beds on the second floor, it was very comfortable and nice. We had dinner at their restaurant and it was wonderful, the dishes tasted great and were beautifully decorated.
