Every staff member here I encountered what very friendly and helpful. I got to the hostel at 6am (way before check in) and the front desk staff member allowed me to hang out in reception (but emphasized NO SLEEPING). I had a 6 bedroom female dorm with a shared bath inside the room. I liked that the shower room was separated from the toilet room. My only complaint about the room is they are HOT!! Not a good nights sleep! Not much air ventilation either.
The beds and sheets are comfortable.
I did not try the breakfast so I cannot comment.
Hostel activities seemed to be popular here. Affordable happy hour.

It rooms were really great, clean, cozy, well maintained. I honestly have no complaints about the hostel. There's a reason why it's highly rated.

Clean and well maintained but to be honest nothing to write home about, has won lots of awards for best hostel. Have stayed at many no better no worse location is excellent though right in the centre of town. Has a good roof top balcony which on a clear night the northern lights are visible.

Centrally located and convenient. Staff was very helpful, answered questions and made suggestions. The lounge upstairs is warm and vibrant. My only complaint: from my dorm room I could hear bass from a neighboring bar/restaurant. Overall, would definitely recommend.

I had a chance to spend an entire week at this hostel, and every moment was wonderful. The rooms and facilities are really clean, there were really cool activities like karaoke and water coloring in the common room, the staff were really friendly and there was even a fully set-up self-catering kitchen to use. The location couldn't have been better, right in the heart of the Reykjavik city center. I would certainly recommend this hostel to others!

The Reykjavik Loft HI Hostel was outstanding. It's in the heart of the city, and has beautiful accommodations and amenities. The staff and all other patrons were friendly, the rooms were secure and clean, and the location can't be beat. Would recommend.

Awesome location, except for the club right next door that played loud music with extremely heavy bass from 10pm to 5am on a Friday night. Earplugs work well for the noise but not the bass, it was literally vibrating the beds. The kitchen was okay and the room was pretty clean. I would not stay here again or recommend to a friend.

Nice hostel with a great location in town. Near many restaurants and bars. Can be loud at night if staying on the weekend but the hostel does have free ear plugs. Great rooftop bar with a nice view as well.

Super cool spot right in the heart of the downtown scene. The loft was really neat although I wasn't there long. Private room with a bathroom and shower, linens and towels all included.

This hostel is the best! I came here in January and stayed for 7 nights. My room was clean and cozy. The only downside, which really didn't bother me is that someone had accidentally flooded part of the room by leaving the shower on or something and it smelled kind of damp in there. The only reason I mention this is to point out how nice and accommodating the staff are when something goes sideways. I was given breakfast tickets to make up for it and offered another room if I wanted. The breakfast was delicious and I slept like a log. Some people complain about the noise. I always wore ear plugs so if there was any disturbance it did not wake me. The common space is really pleasant and i enjoyed coming back to read and have a cider from the bar after hiking all day. It When I come back to Iceland i will be staying here for sure!

Loved this place. A bit pricey, but the rooms were clean and spacious, the kitchen had everything I needed with a nice view of the Prime Minister's office and the ocean. Lots of cool activities at night.

My advice would be to avoid staying there over the weekend. It is next door to a club that pumps music till 5am. Also on the weekends the common area becomes a lounge that blasts club music and it is mostly filled with rowdy locals. Travelers who want to simply chill or unwind will have to stay in the dorms. The kitchen facilities are mostly neglected as well during weekend nights, they took tables away from the kitchen so that the dj can setup their station. The rest of us were forced to use chairs as tables. If you are into that kind of thing so be it.

Very conveniently located hostel, just a short walk from stunning views of the mountains, shops, restaurants, supermarkets, etc. The lounge / bar / dining area on the top floor is buzzing with activity and is a great place to meet other tourists and locals as well. The common kitchen is well-equipped with all the essentials. Loft is clean, convenient and a great place to stay in Reykjavik!!

Amazing location and super friendly and helpful staff. Kitchen and facilities were great - there is everything you need to self cater. I stayed on a Friday and Saturday night so it can be very very hard to sleep with the amount of music and noise coming from the street. But apart from that, you can't fault this place!

The Loft Hostel is positioned right in the centre of Reykjavik. Although this can mean a little extra noise from the streets, you are so close to everything in the city. The rooms appear to be cleaned most days so everything is in good condition. The doors are protected by a key card, so only authorised people can gain access. There is a kitchen on the top floor near the reception which can be a bit of a mess, but is still tidier than most student accommodation. If you arrive before the earliest check-in time (2PM, check out is 10AM), then there is a storage area where luggage can be left. There is a balcony on the top floor which would be the perfect place to see the northern lights if you are fortunate enough to see it.
The only downside was that the hostel had a live music event most nights. This is good for some people, but not when you have to get up early in the morning.
This is only the second hostel I have stayed in, but it is the best of the two.

Stayed here on arrival to Iceland for a night before starting our Ring Road drive. In terms of location, it can't be beat, especially if you have a car and you find a spot to park overnight right on the street. Otherwise, it was too expensive for a private room, which worries me about how much regular hotels cost. The bunk bed in the private room wasn't comfortable, woke up with back and neck pains. I understand the need to divide the floor up into as many rooms as possible, but something's gone amiss if the washroom is practically the size of the rest of the room. Otherwise, if just for a night, it's okay.

Even if you're not staying here, head up to the top floor for a beer with your friends! It's always packed with both locals and guests. Live music happens often and it's always a beautiful event. Free yoga on Sundays. Foosball table :)

Beds were comfortable, wifi had fantastic connection. the bathroom was inside the room. The only issue would be the lock boxes were too small and not secure like other hostel. May because there is no theft in Iceland I guess. There are outlets right by the beds, easy to charge for your device. Pretty pricey breakfast 1500 Iceland currency about 14 US$, everything is pricey in Iceland anyway. Staffs were very nice and accommodating. Definitely recommended.

Great place and everything you want a hostel to be! It's always hopping in the common areas in the evenings, awesome WiFi, rooms are clean and comfortable, and ALL the travelers I met and hung out with were pleasant and respectful. There is only a small square sign at street level that says "Loft" though near the corner, so keep your eyes open!! I had a hard time finding it at first.

Hands down, the best hostel I've ever stayed at. Beds were comfortable, wifi had fantastic connection. I stayed in the six female dorm, and the bathroom was inside the room, and kept clean by staff. Would be nice if the lock boxes were a bit bigger, but there are outlets right by the beds, easy to charge up for the day. Pretty pricey breakfast. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Great coffee!
Only complaint was that there is no laundry service :(
