Really bad mold at the showers and they said that they were going to paint it over, which definitely won't help. The mold was completely black with orange around it in the corner and there was mold spots all around the ceiling and walls. The door to in the boys bathroom couldn't lock and the soap dispenser in the girls bathroom was empty for 2 days. I have heard that it has been a lot better earlier but right now it's not recommendable.

I know it's a hostel so I shouldn't expect the best, but my previous experiences in hostels gave me a different idea about them (it became very positive compared to what people thinks). But this one was a bit dirty and I didn't like it: I'm taking about some powder and random tiny stuff left by the previous guests in the place above the bed where I was supposed to place my phone and glasses, or my friend that found several hair in his matress. Some of the guys at the reception weren't so nice as I'm used, some others were. The breakfast was expensive but after we tried to make our own we realized that was just Iceland being expensive. The kitchen was barely furnished to cook pasta for 5 people, where 2 of us had to eat with a spoon, but at least we made it. Anyway these things weren't traumatic to me, it's fine, even if I think I spent a lot for an hostel, but that's not true because, again, Iceland is terribly expensive. At least the place was very close to the city center by car. Maybe I would have had a different perception walking there, can't say.

Staff is not overly friendly. Half of the bathroom/showers were not working and half of the remaining had no soap or toilet paper.

Also, many large student groups stay here. Would have been nice to know as I was trying to get away from large groups of children.

I managed but would not choose to stay here again.

We had a rental car so being just outside downtown wasn't an issue for us. Great location and just a few short minutes to drive anywhere in town. We had a private room and never had any issues. We especially loved the kitchen and being able to make our own meals since eating out is crazy expensive compared to the US. Another thing we loved was their focus on being green. There were proper trash/compost/recycle receptacles in the kitchen, free food bins from past guests so food doesn't go to waste, linens only washed and cleaned when you request (which we never did), and so much more.

Loved our stay here. Super clean huge rooms, nice amenities and great common spaces including an outdoor space. Bus stop right outside and the staff was helpful and friendly. My only issue was that one of the kitchens was pretty gross. That's more the fault of other travelers but still the hostel's responsibility to maintain it.

Nice place if you need only to sleep. It has laundry, shared kitchen. As everything in iceland the prices are incredibly high for the quality they offer.
Stayed in a private double room, two beds, if you are a fat guy, ask the hostel for a larger bed, or you'll have to sleep without moving :)
The personnel at the front desk are very helpful, they give you hints about almost everything.
If you need to go to center of Reykjavik, you need to take a bus. It's a 40 minutes walk.
There's a bus stop in front of the hostel.

Good price for Reykjavik, however be prepared to walk half an hour in to the city centre. Not much atmosphere either, so good if you just want somewhere to sleep and base yourself.

The hotel was great the rooms where nice and had lots of outlets and great wifi connection. The only bad thing is the food. It might just have been because my whole class was there but the food was pretty boreing

Pleasant and quite quiet hostel with large, well equipped kitchens, a drying room and washing machines. The reception staff were very helpful. The showers could do with more pressure.

Affordable place to stay in Reykjavik. It's not super close to the city center but it's walkable. Bathrooms are okaynot super clean but tolerable. Rooms are good for the price.

Very trendy hostel, clean rooms with very comfortable beds, slept very well. The staff is friendly and helpful. Kitchens are fully supplied. Location is OK, walking to Reykjavik is a bit far (45min), but you can also take the bus, which is fine.

Loved it here! One of the cheapest hostels in Reykjavik. Stayed there twice. Beds in the 4- shared rooms are much more comfortable than the 6 shared ones. Kitchens and bathrooms on each floor and there is a big camping ground just behind. About 2.5 kms from the BSI terminus and the city center but there is a bus stop right in front.

This place is very warm and welcoming. The facilities are clean and everything is new. Breakfast was delicious and filling. Will stay here again on my next trip to Reykjavík!!

awesome stay here. People from all over the world. The location is dang near perfect. If you walk not even a mile down the road you will the ocean and mountain backdrop scene. Clearly amazing. nice bar and music on top. I stayed in a dorm for 8 people I believe and I dont regret. Only complaint is that restrooms are very small, but who cares. oh and also bar across the street is amazing. best time of my life.

Second year in a row that I've returned to Reykjavik city hostel. It's a good hostel, two kitchens, free food bins, a free stuff shelf. I love that it's part of hostelling international, gives you free bedding with your stay and has clean showers and bathrooms. The laptop in the lobby was helpful when I needed to access some documents online. That being said, not a lot of entertainment beyond the ping pong table but it's RIGHT around the corner from Laugardaslaug so there's no reason to not go there for all your entertainment and relaxation needs. The proximity to Laugardaslaug is actually why I choose to stay here. Easily accessible by RT. 14 bus from city center and really a great hostel all around. I wish the breakfast was more reasonably priced but that is a typical Icelandic national issuefood prices are sky high. Will definitely be back.

I was only there to catch a shuttle, but it appeared to be a very clean and quiet hostel. Speaking with a couple of people who actually stayed there, said it was one of the cleaner and nicer hostels that they've stayed. Said it was very nice.

One of the nicest hostel's I've been at. Kitchen tables weren't all that clean, but the rooms were very nice and clean. Beds were sturdy and comfortable.

nice stay, decent hostel with good quality beds and facilities. Advice to anyone who booked a flybus to airport during very early hours of the morning, is wait outside at the stop for the bus as they do not come inside the hostel at that time and we were not advised of this, so obviously we missed it and had to take an expensive cab. Late night receptionist was very kind to help us with this.

The place was clean, quite and modern and the reception guy was very friendly (he had a big afro wig).
We were there in winter (March) and the streets had lots of snow, but it was very easy to find the hostel.
The hostel was near the sea. We had a walk after dinner and we saw the amazing northen light.

It's a nice hostel, with great amenities, three kitchens. Locked gear storage room. Everything you need. My only complaint would be the showers are very disappointing. Barely enough to get you wet, I know they are going green, but that's just excessive.

Good hostel. A nice kitchen on each floor, plenty of bathrooms around, although the bathroom with shower was a bit cold. Location is fine, but can be a bit far from centre withour car.
