This place is absolutely amazing! The cabins have everything one could need and the camping pods look lovely. We had a nice dinner with a view of the river and waterfalls while listening to some damn good music (the owner was a musician). People can also enjoy free hot tub till 23:00 which can be magical under a starry sky.
Such a nice spot to stay for one or two nights. They got hotpots and a pretty waterfall.
Best Hotel I've been to in Iceland! Great Landscape, delicious food and superb comfort. 5 out of 5 stars.
We stayed in the guesthouse and it was excellent. Comfy beds, lovely and warm, clean bathrooms, and good cooking facilities. The hot tubs are excellent, a really good addition. The troll walk was good fun, and somehow the statues added to the landscape. The views are stunning and breakfast overlooking the waterfalls was a true experience. Definitely recommended.
Our favourite stay during our trip. Great location, not too far off the ring road. A cross between a guesthouse and a hotel. A few different accommodation styles are offered with shared bathrooms, private bathrooms & suites. Stayed in a private bathroom unit which was tastefully decorated, had tall ceilings, a decent shower, TV in room, comfortable bed and good wifi connectivity.
The window in room overlooked the parking lot, not a lot of privacy unless you lowered the black out blind.
The hotel owner (who is also a music producer in Iceland) wrote several books on trolls which were inspired by nearby landmarks like the waterfall next to main house/restaurant. The troll rock, the original inspiration for the books, had to be recreated after someone damaged it. He also created a "troll walk" which is a short walk around the property with a few plaques and fibreglass troll statues along the route.
A uniquely Icelandic experience camping in little camping pods (think large wooden fully enclosed shelter) instead of a tent. More conventional cabins are available too but we stayed in one of the camping pods. An onsite restaraunt is available for meals with an awesome view overlooking some water falls but we did not eat there. For the camping pod guests, there is a communal kitchen, bathroom, shower, and hot tub facility for your use. Several hiking trails start from here too. A fun place to stay!
We stayed in a standard room (which includes breakfast) and had dinner at the restaurant. Nothing is fancy but everything is done well. Nice eclectic feel, convenient location. Hot tubs under the night sky were a lovely bonus.
great cabins at this location. it is not that far from the city. around 40 mins drive. great scenery around the camp. great for people that like the nature. if you did not bring sleeping bags and pillows, you can rent them there.
I absolutely loved the walk and the atmosphere. We did not stay in the hotel as we were just having a pit stop for the rock and troll café. I highly recommend you to check the books made by the owner. Delightfull painting on the wall as well. Next time we come to Iceland I would love to stay there for a night or 2.
The view of the river was amazing. I did not stay at the hotel.
Much better than anything you can find in Borgarnes or even in a 50km radius: Friendly service, amazing view from the restaurant room, excellent food and soft prices. We loved this place!!
The restaurant was nice. They play vinyl records during the diner. Local beer was good. We stayed in the guesthouse which I liked a lot. Nice views
We stopped for a bite to eat. Staff were very friendly and the food was good too. Shame it was too cold to sit out in the conservatory.
Very cosy pods, great hot tubs, beautiful scenery, friendly staff!
Probably a nice hotel but for GUESTS ONLY. As general travelers, we tried to stop in for lunch but it is ONLY available to tour groups that have planned it in advance or hotel guests. The location is beautiful and the staff is very friendly but as someone who chose this as a lunch spot based on reviews, note that it is NOT for all travelers.
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Fossatun's Hotel, with everything from the clean, warm private showers and comfortable beds to the Rock-n-Troll ambiance and kind and friendly staff delighting us! The location is a little out of the way but the scenery is breathtaking - it was a delight to wake up to every morning and well worth the 30 km drive on the sealed road to get there. Great rock and roll complimented the delicious included breakfast with a wide range of food and beverage options. An excellent value!
Location is very nice and really close to a waterfall. There are as well small hiking paths nearby the hotel. The guesthouse is around 30 km to the closest city but the location is really worth the effort. We had dinner as well (fish) and everything tasted very good. Dinner room had as well a nice atmosphere.Room had a nice view on the waterfall, enough space and it's comfortable and well furnished. There is also a nice external space perfect.for a beer! Definitely one of the best guest houses in our Iceland trip.
We stayed in the pods for our first night in Iceland and they are AMAZING!!! Set right next to a beautiful river the pods are very comfortable and cozy, perfect for couples. The shared kitchen space is clean and well equipped with electric water boiler and hot plates plus any/all the kitchen accessories you will need. Also available for use are to jacuzzi tubs fed by natural hot springs and are the perfect temperature for hours of lounging after a long day of adventures.
