There are many different excursions to get on the lake but I thought this was excellent. The their of the high powered zodiac boat racing through the lake combined with the ability to get close to the icebergs was magical. The tour was around the hour mark and well worth the money to money.

We loved our zodiac boat tour today! Our guide was wonderful, knowledgeable and spoke multiple languages. We got to see amazing colored iceburgs and even witnessed one flip over. I highly recommend this company!

    Zodiac Boat Tour

    ******************

This was THE highlight of our trip! The first time we came to Iceland we weren't aware of these tours so we were sure to book the second time. We went in May and it was still very cold so be prepared. The group size was perfect. Maybe about 8 of us. Plenty of room to take in the views. They provide you with jumpsuits to wear to protect from the water and cold. Our guide was very informative and super friendly. This is totally worth the money. Don't do the big boat tours. They won't take you as far! Do this tour!!

If you are visiting Iceland you TOTALLY have to do this. It's a bit of a drive from Reykjavík (5 hours) so I suggest you do a road trip and spend the night at a hotel in Hof or another nearby city (each little town has one or two hotels) and then take the zodiac tour. You will zig zag on a zodiac between the floating ice and see seals and get right up to the glacier. Each boat holds about 10 people and a perfect view is guaranteed. The ride is about an hour long and they provide overalls to keep you warm and dry. You really won't get wet if the weather is nice. You can bring your expensive camera and it won't get wet.

Really really cool boat ride. If youre lucky you can see some seals even. Guides are nice and informative as well as pretty knowledgeable about the glaciers. Warm suits are included so everyone feels toasty while zooming across the lake.

We took a Zodiac tour when we visited the Jökulsárlón Lagoon and it was very fascinating. The boat goes very fast, so it gets pretty cold. Just make sure to dress accordingly (hat, mittens, etc). We had a great tour guide who was very friendly and informative. You could tell he really enjoyed his job. We also had the chance to see a glacier tip in the water, which is why the boats stay so far back. The glaciers are huge and pictures really do not do it justice.

Cool place. Take the boat tour around the lake with them. No crowds at all and the service is very friendly and professional!

This tour on the amphibious boat was really great. They tell you everything about the lake, the icebergs, the glacier and the surroundings.
You even get to hold a piece of iceberg and taste it (if you dare)
It is very special to be so close to the icebergs.

It is definitely worth seeing it, maybe bit pricey. With zodiac boats you'll get a bit closer to the iceberg - they don't go too close though, it is too dangerous. Other companies get you even closer, but I could see myself block of ice falling off without warning. The boat was filled with 8 people and we got extremely warm and protective suits which came very handy. Don't forget the gloves, though.

You should take small ZODIAC boat. It's much better that big because you will have opportunity even touch icebergs!
