Sun was out, owner was in good form, cooking facilities were fine, shower is free and I got lucky with the queue. A good stay at a beautiful place :)
Everything that was needed, clean, assable showers, nice location.
Camped there May 6th, 2018. Despite the previous reviews, the owner/caretaker was nice and helpful. Huge common area with electric hobs, toasters, kettles, a fridge and all sorts of cooking utensils and crockery. Not a lot of plugs thought, so expect to wait (or bring an extender ;) ). One shower per gender, free with limited hot water.
NB: common area is closed between midnight and 07:00.
Very rude and aggressive service. Not recommended.
Highly NOT recommended, the owner is rude and not hospitable at all. Friendly advice, when running a business like that you should at least respect your customers. I'd rather stay on the street than paying money to this guy.
Definitely recommend. I think of all the campgrounds we stayed at, this place had the best view. Nice spot to heat up food, get warm, and connect to wifi. They even sell beer! 10 of 10 would recommend
This is one of the better campsites in Iceland. Try to do your groceries in advance because supermarkets are scarce in that area. The shop at the Freysnesi gass station is expensive and has only a limited range of products.
Nice camping with reasonable price. Shower in the price. But there is only one shower and two toilets for women (same for men). Spacious, heated and equipped common room/kitchen. Well located, few minutes from Skafftafell and half an hour or so from Jokursarlon. Recommended.
This place was so cute and peaceful! Good facilities including the huge dining hall with two water boilers and two sets electrical stoves on each side which makes the cooking traffic so much more manageable. Only thing was that there is only one stall for women's shower, which could make the wait long. The hot water ran out but the manager quickly changed the gas that heats up the water to a full tank so I could take a hot shower! Nice Icelandic grandpa at the reception greeting the campers. The surrounding is very calming and beautiful with green field, and the mountains in the back.
Great campground. We stayed two nights and it was perfect. Place is very well maintained and the kitchen and bathroom/showers were exactly what we expected. The place does get pretty busy (we were there end of July) especially with showers, but it's to be expected.
It was a great camping site with a great kitchen/common room. The only point that needs to be mentioned is that the nearest supermarket is 70km away. There's a gas station that's around the corner that provide basic necessities. But like all gas stations, it's even more expensive than the Icelandic supermarkets.
Awesome camping place. Way better than in National park several km away. Has big kitchen, 1 shower, 2 bathrooms, great view on glacier. Stayed here in July 2017. Will choose this place next time for sure.
Turned us away
We took the cabins (roughly at 4500isk per person-> sleeping bag not included) on a rainy day. We enjoyed our stay mid-September. The cabins have a heater, some cuttelry, boiler and a sink :) really nice to make yourself a hot cocoa right before bed! ^_^
We were able to re-heat our supper and eat it in the big dinner room. We ate around 7o'clock and it wasn't busy.
However, if you arrive at the same time as all the campers came in (8-9o'clock) we heard that the dining area was quite busy -> but we were chilling in the "welcome cabin" with free wifi :)
Showers are free, but that comes without warm water :P
Well equiped and nicely located campsite. Has a cooking area, which is always handy. One downside might be that there is only one shower for males, and one for females. Waiting queues can be long.
Too few showers for a campsite as large as this. Needs way more sinks for dish washing. The restrooms and common area were a bit dirty. ! Not much hot water. Very hard to find an available outlet to charge batteries.
Great site nestled up against the mountains and overlooking a glacier. The shared facilities are great and cooking and eating utensils are available for use. The rooms are very quite and comfortable. With bunk beds in the rooms ( lower bed is a double!!). For 50,000 KR a night this was a fantastic deal. Highly recommended.
