The location is great. Breakfast buffé was what you would expect. Rooms clean. Bathroom could use a litte maintinence, the toilet roll holder in my room was missinng. The street at the entrance is very busy at night so it can get quite loud.

This hotel is pretty nice. It's location is fantastic, since it sits in the middle of downtown. The rooms are not amazing, but they get by. However the internet is usually extremely terrible.

This would be a good place if not for all the noise from surrounding bars. They party hard until 5AM.. Not that good to recover from a transatlantic flight.

A GOOD place to stay if you want to be in the center of all the action. With that said it will be noisy till the wee hours. Coffee is always available in the lobby as well as lemon water. Bart at the front desk is the is the fifth star at this hotel.. ps. They serve breakfast as reasonable prices.

City center hotel has a fantastic location surrounded by bars and restaurants. It is a short walk to bus stop 4 which is helpful if you are planning any tours through one of the major companies

This hotel in no way deserves the 8.3 user rating it boast. The room I got smelled as if the entire room was a toilet that had not been properly cleaned or sanitized in months. This made you feel like you were staying in a latrine and that everything you touched was contaminated. The fixtures were old and poorly maintained. I couldn’t watch television because the remote for the television did not work nor was it even a remote for that brand of television. When I reported it the front desk person simply asked me to look in a drawer at the front desk where there were numerous other random unrelated remotes which didn’t work. This front desk person was absolutely worthless in resolving issues.

The hotel also had a drawer full of power converters, most of which were not compatible with the hotels outlets. When I pointed this out to the hapless front desk person she then volunteered the fact that the hotel didn’t purchase power converters. All the converters there had been left and discarded by previous guest. The bed appeared to have bed bugs stains. The chairs upholstery was old and unclean. The location is good and central. However, the property is not very sound proof and music and conversations can be heard throughout the night from the surrounding bars and restaurants and the street. I would not recommend. Very disappointing.

Very friendly staff. Great view, great room. Perfect location right in the center of downtown Reykjavik. Very easy to get to and from bus stop 4, where the Gray line shuttle to the airport is. Highly recommend.

My husband and I booked a room at the city centre hotel for our last night in Iceland for our honeymoon. We got to the hotel only to be told that they double booked our room and moved us to a different hotel, their partner hotel on the outskirts of town. I asked them if they could put us in a different room in the city centre hotel, they told me there wasn't any more rooms, I checked online later and there were several available. When we arrived at the sister hotel only to find that our room wasn't ready, they gave us a single room instead of a double, so we had to wait around again while they fixed that. Because we had already booked our airport transfers from the city centre we had to rebook them, costing us extra, we also had to pay for taxis in and out of town for our dinner reservation because we were no longer in the city centre to walk it. It was just a mess! Also their partner hotel has cheaper rooms then the city centre hotel yet they still charged us the more expensive price! I realise that double bookings can happen, but we should have been told as soon as they knew so we could make alternative plans. It was all so badly handled, stay away from both City Park and City Centre Hotels!!

My husband & I stayed at the City Centre Hotel for 3 nights. We previously asked to be placed in a quiet location. It was very noisy. Our room was directly beside a pub where the bass was turned full blast. We could hear conversations just outside the window. The room was clean & the bed comfortable. We went to 2 excursions - the Blue Lagoon & the Golden Circle. Was disappointed that the Blue Lagoon water was not as hot as we expected. The hotel booked both excursions for us & just as we were leaving for the Blue Lagoon the female receptionist handed us a sheet of paper with an update to the Blue Lagoon & what we should take with us on this excursion. This was a bit late & the information should have been put underneath our hotel door before we took off for the excursion. The map that was sent to us by the hotel indicated that we would be dropped off at the hotel. This was misleading as we were dropped a ways away from the hotel & had to carry 5 bags up 2 hills in order to get to the hotel. Apparently the Mayor has a policy that only allows the buses to go to certain locations. The buses are not permitted to go to all hotel locations so beware of this as you might have a lengthy walk like we did. We were not aware that the tap water had a smell when you showered. I think there should be information in the room explaining how the sink works & also about the hotel water. I do not plan on returning to this hotel as we were not happy about a few issues. The reception people were very helpful in answering our questions.

Great location and nice to have a 24 hour desk attendant to store your bags (perfect for early morning flights). Rooms are a bit small and the water had a sulfuric smell, but overall, a great stay.

Location and staff were great, as was the room. I had difficulty getting a good night's sleep only because there is evidently no thermostat control within the individual rooms. I like to sleep cold and I suppose that due to the fact that Iceland is generally a country of colder climates pretty much all year-round, they appeared to only have heat and believe me, it works great. It wasn't until the next morning after sleeping and showering that we realized there was a window that you can open to allow fresh airflow at least. However we also figured it would've still been just as equally difficult to get any sleep with all the noise of being right in the thick of downtown Reykjavik city nightlife on a Friday night. Overall, great place to stay and location is prime 👌

We had a great stay in a top level room. The room was huge and very stylish and comfortable. Plenty of furniture and space, with a nice view.
The location is perfect for exploring the unique downtown or for a weekend pad. The breakfast is fabulous, but not a dinner option. There are many trendy and tasty options within steps of the hotel though.
    Recommended for your next visit!
