This is on plenty of "must do lists" for Iceland, so we were very excited to check it out. The facility is organized, albeit very crowded, when we came, but the check-in was very easy. The women's changing area was a little disheveled from the sheer amount of people visiting, so it would've been nice to have multiple staff who constantly cleaned up the area.

The warm water was a great contrast to the cold weather, and it felt really good. However, the place didn't really offer much relaxation because of the crowd. It was hard to find spots that were quiet and weren't full of people, but that's to be expected of a popular tourist area.

This place is so unique and quite the tourist trap. If you only have a layover in Iceland then maybe this is for you. As it is easily accessible from the airport.
Many hot springs in other parts of the country you can access for free and much more private.
It was nice to experience this once but its not the real Iceland.

Very unique experience and one of the best in Iceland. It is very well managed, the introduction is welcoming and professional, the website giving more than enough information on what you are paying for and other entry options available. We chose the Comfort package which includes one free drink, algae mask and the use of a towel over the lower package.

The in-pool experience is brilliant, well lit and very clean water, the slightly sulphur smell that we were expecting wasn't there, mainly as the water is geothermally heated sea-water. There is a stream room, sauna, bar and incredibly warm natural shower all near the pool.

The bar is great, right by the poolside which you don't even have to get out of the pool for! Paying for anything and using your locker is done with an electronic waterproof bracelet and means it's all done seamlessly and paid for on exit.

Staff are very friendly, the car park is massive and easy to find, the experience is truly unique!

Definitely put this on your list while visiting Iceland. It was amazing! It was best to go around 4 pm to avoid the long line ups later in the evening and we were able to watch the sunset as well. With the fog and mist above the lagoon, it feels as though there aren't as many people there as well. The mud mask was also fantastic. The best way to finish off the trip to Iceland.

Crazy expensive? Yes. Crazy cool? Also yes. Not to mention rewarding after a week of backpacking. Our bodies were so relieved to be in the pool. Especially in winter it was less crowded and the steam was amazing, very magical looking.

Be careful about booking your travel. It is even more expensive than the visit to the lagoon itself.

Bring your own towel, a backpacker should always have their towel.

This was the highlight of our trip to Iceland. Although a bit pricey and super touristy, it was a great way to relax. Our reservation was at 9AM and we were able to stay until around 4PM. The water was so warm and relaxing, even on a cold day. We upgraded last minute to the comfort package, which I think was worth it - it came with a towel, a drink, algae mask, and silica mask. Although later, someone stole my towel. I was a bit annoyed that I couldn't keep the towel in my locker so that wouldn't happen. Apparently towels are being stolen all the time. However, that didn't really bother me. I was able to get a new towel. All in all, Blue Lagoon is a wonderful experience and a must see when traveling to Iceland. I just wish it wasn't so touristy.

Arriving at this facility from the airport or nearby hotels is a little strange, since it's located next to a large geothermal power plant, and is otherwise surrounded by seemingly endless fields of basaltic lava rock and moss. The staff were very friendly, and the whole experience, from changing out and getting cleaned off to getting in the water was well done. For those squeamish about nudity (mostly Americans, I imagine), be prepared to shower in the buff to get fully clean before entering the pools, it is required, and honestly, you can enjoy the experience more knowing that people aren't filthy and disgusting when they get in (You wear bathing suits in the pool, not nude in mixed company). You can wade over to the bar to order drinks while soaking and relaxing. The temperature of the water is just perfect, not too hot, not too cold. The restaurant on site is excellent, again with friendly service. I hope to return again some day, it's a very relaxing and rewarding experience!

Thank you so much for your email. I had an absolutely amazing time! We got off the flight and went straight to blue lagoon. I was surprised how organized everything was. I would honestly pay $115 every day to go. The mask, the atmosphere, the view - everything was perfect. I really liked the idea of the wristband, kept everything more organized.

I would give a 5 star review had it not been so crowded, but of course, it is the Blue Lagoon! Even with the stress of being surrounded by crowds it was amazing! They are expanding the facilities this year,you so hopefully that helps to mitigate some of the crowds.

The natural views at this place were stunning if you ventured to the outside edges of the hot spring pool and the amenities were cushy. We had a drink and two different types of face masks included with our wristband, so my friend and I headed over to the swim up bar and swim up spa. The steam room was also wonderful! Everything was very clean, this surprised me considering the amount of people who crank through this place a day. (It also made me feel a bit better knowing the water cycles out every 40 hours). You can also tell they went to great lengths to make sure their guests were safe at all times with handrails, non slip mats and smoothed edges along the bottom of the spring.

The food, drinks, extra masks and robes were easily charged to an electronic bracelet. This was great for simplicity's sake, dealing with money in a wet environment is never fun. I left feeling rejuvenated and I would recommend going if you don't mind getting a little spendy and dealing with the tourists! (Photo of my friend in the lagoon!)

Extremely unique, if you are going to be in Iceland, you have to come here. The water is nice and toasty, mud pots all over the place, lockers to keep your belongings safe. It is really entertaining to be relaxing in a pool while the lifeguards are all wearing parkas and heavy winter gear.

That said, it is fairly crowded even on slower days, and pretty much all there is to do is relax and drink. We did this the day before flying out, and it was a great way to wind down and relax before heading back to home and work.

Don't miss coming here, but you don't need to try and stay all day unless you really need to relax or want to throw in some of their other services.

Excellent day out! Was looking forward to this for ages and it definitely lived up to expectations! Technology is cleverly integrated into the entire experience to ensure your trip runs as smoothly as possible, the staff are all extremely professional, helpful and friendly and the food is absolutely exquisite. As for the lagoon itself, it is very clean, relaxing and lovely and warm. Definitely would go back, despite the price of it!

Is definitely convenient. Very near Reykjavik and ample parking and locker storage. You get a fair amount for what you pay for. For the slightly upgrade price, you can get entrance, a towel, a free drink, and a silica and algae mask. Definitely still a little pricey and definitely a bit of a tourist trap, but worth going to if you are only spending a short amount of time in Iceland.

If you go to Iceland, you're going to stop here. Its the most popular place. I saw why.
It's well set-up to deal with the traffic so you don't feel like it's too busy (its well thought out with the lockers and areas). They have a fresh silica booth (so don't just put it on you from the bottom) and a swim-up bar which is nice.
You will spend at least a couple hours here, more likely a half a day but anything more than that, you'll get bored.
I stayed at the hotel near by and walked over which was awesome but there are taxis and shuttles you can get from town or the airport.
There is a high-end restaurant there, it's pricey but good. They do have some other food options as well.
Go.. you'll be glad you did. It feels quite touristy but its still a unique, interesting, and relaxing experience.

Full disclosure this is not my thing, but was a really impressive sight and the pool runs about 100 degrees F. Be sure to order up to the towel as once you are in the facility there is no way to get one. Of course you have to pay extra.

Very high tech and very relaxing. The water is blue, maybe a little less blue than advertised, but still far more blue than the ocean. It is very warm and I recommend walking around as there are hot spots. You are given a wristband which allows you to access your own locker and make purchases without a wallet, a very cool and helpful feature. There is a bar accessible from the pool which is very nice. An overall very enjoyable experience.

Fantastic experience. We went there right after we had arrived at the airport. It was a wonderful introduction to Iceland's unique landscape. It was also a great way to relax after the long flight. The temperature fluctuated through out the lagoon which made it possible to move from very hot spots to cooler spots and back to warm ones to warm up again. The atmosphere is surreal and like some thing out of a sci-fi movie. The silica mud mask was fantastic and made my skin feel amazing for days after. We couldn't go back for another dip on our way back to the airport so instead I bought a gift package of the mud at the airport shop. What a complete and utter disappointment! It didn't feel any thing like what I experienced at the lagoon. It felt like it left a greasy residue on my skin and only contained a small amount of the same substance we used on our faces at the lagoon. I will go back to the lagoon in a heart beat, but I can't recommend buying any of their products, especially considering how incredibly expensive they are.

I highly recommend buying your tickets a month or two before arriving. I booked mine two months before and met others on the trip who waited last minute and couldn't find a spot to get in. They don't over pack this place so don't assume they do. I spent about 4 hours here. You will need to get naked to shower before putting on your swimming suite for the lagoon. You get the free silica mask with the basic fee or upgrade for algae mask. I think its worth it to upgrade. Might as well since you get a free drink included in the upgrade. There are deep areas in the back for those who can't swim and is shorter than 5'7, FYI. But other areas are not as deep so don't fret if you cant swim. I can't swim and was able to doggy paddle around and held on to my friend for the deeper area. There will be lifeguards around.

Gets 4 stars for the amazing in water massage. The lagoon itself is impressive but also very commercial and full of tourists. Its all concrete floor, swim up bar makes it seem like a big warm pool at a resort. There really are better lagoons to visit that are more natural feeling. But the in water massage here is amazing. Well worth the money.

I hesitated to make reservations because the Blue Lagoon caters solely to tourists, but I am so glad I did. I recommend it 100%. It was the best way to start an incredible trip around Iceland. The basic package doesn't include a towel, so plan ahead. Definitely put and leave conditioner in your hair, its over a week since I was in the water and my hair still hasn't recovered. BUT so incredible. We had reservations at 8am and watched the clouds part and the sunrise shine through. Even in inclement weather this is amazing. You won't regret it!

Probably one of the most well known places in Iceland. Even though we booked our tickets online, the line to get in was still pretty long; it might be because we arrived right after a tour group. They have lockers and showers so you can change and clean up before entering the lagoon. The water is indeed perfectly hot for a winter night. It was a great experience. If you are ever in Iceland, this is one of the places you must visit. There were a lot of tourists, but that's to be expected for such a popular place.
