We stayed one single night and we enjoyed it the most. The hotel staff is wonderful, as well as the rooms, views and breakfast. We're very sorry we couldn't stay longer, it made our visit to Kilkenny very pleasant.
Expected a lot.It was not cheap lived up to none of the accolades it was recommended for. My room had no view but that was okay since it was a last minute booking. Per typical Ireland, it was very cold and very wet. And, after walking in that cold, wet weather to see the castle and town, I wanted a warm room. My heater did not work. I "negotiated" that with the night manager for 2 hours before he brought me a noisy space heater that he recommended I not keep on all night. It helped, but slowly. I decided to take a hot bath, but the bathroom heater also did not work. The next morning, when asked about my night and I told them, they said simply, "Oh. Okay" No apology, not compensation..NOTHING! They then told me the bus station was a 3 min walk away so I walked back in the rain, for 20 mins, pulling luggage, to a city bus stop, not a bus station. There I stood in more rain, waiting. Other than location, not worth the trouble.
Ideally placed in the city centre and offering excellent facilities, food, and associated services. Being riverside, great views of John's Bridge, the River Nore and Kilkenny Castle can be enjoyed. The car park entrance involves negotiation of a small tunnel so wide or high vehicles should find an alternative space.
Very friendly staff. Good car parking facilities. Prime location with superb views of the magnificent castle. Beautiful terrace to relax on a summer afternoon with a south -west orientation for full advantage for sun. They changed the decor from what it used to be And that is a real pity. Changed what were beautiful wooden elegant porch doors for cheap plastic. Interior paint is bland. The bar food has taken a nose dive also. It used be buffet style and very good.
Beautiful location right in the heart of town center, on the river, right next to Kilkenny Castle. Very friendly service and comfortable, well appointed rooms, and great food for dining, whether in the bar or dining room. However, as a single traveller, I feel I get out in rooms that aren't the best location. My friends, who were couples, were given rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor. I was given a room on first, off of car alley, and where bins are brought out early in the morningso noisy at night and in morning. That didn't impress me much ☹️
One of the nicest Hotels we have stayed in Stayed in this Hotel before and found it very good .This time I can give it a five star .may be classed as 4 star hotel but we found the service and standard of food to be 5 star. From the reception staff especially Sharon who sorted us out with a fantastic Suite and looked after the Welcome pack for my wife's Birthday surprise. Found Michael and the bar staff to be very friendly and professional. To all the restaurant team Brandon who served our table and made sure everything was first class .Can't wait to get back to River Court Hotel Kilkenny.
Went for coffees today. 2 latte and 1 Americana. We ordered and paid for them and waited just 45 minutes for it to be served. We went twice to say we were still awaiting our coffees. Had we not paid up front we would have left. However their location is beautiful on a nice day.
Excellent staff and very kind nights guy lent me his own phone charger.
Very niiice. But someone threw stones at us. Toilet is good
Lovely location right on the river. When the sun is out this is a beautiful place to have lunch or dinner in the shadow of the castle. Comfortable with a good menue and table service available. Great atmosphere and bang in the middle of town
Very comfortable hotel,on very scenic and pleasant river setting, with stunning Kilkenny Castle views. Very convenient location in the city centre, close to all amenities. Plenty of on site parking. Very tasty breakfast!
This is a very very quiet, clean and friendly hotel. You can't beat the view they have right across the river from the hotel. Ask for an odd-numbered room and you'll be on the river side. They have an elevator and an excellent full breakfast each morning. Definitely worth a little extra money to stay here. And you can absolutely walk to everything. Their free car park is easy to get in and easy to get out.
