WARNING! Stayed at some hole in the wall called Clifden House which seems to part of the Key collection empire. It is now just before midnight on a Thursday night and we are still waiting for a plumber to arrive to fix the toliet that has ceased functioning for the third time today. The bathroom itself is tiny and a full size adult male would not be able to fit into the shower. There is no pride or sense of service at this place. Just an opportunity to make a fast buck off of gullible tourists. Well I guess we're the idiots for paying these outrage prices. I am struggling furiously to think of something positivesorry can't find anything. WaitI met a very friendly cat in the back alley. Almost made the experience worth while.

A room for 3 is tiny but adequate. Unfortunately, we booked for two nights when we meant to book only one. The female employee at the desk informed us that there was NO way we would be refunded. An email letter to management was gracious in refunding us the full amount. THANK YOU!!!

This is one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had, and I would strictly recommend to NOT stay here since the hotel obviously has no active fire security.
We had the fire alarm going off in the middle of the night on our second night of stay. We put on some clothes and then rushed down to the reception. Imagine my surprise when I there find the receptionist spending his time answering the phone from other guests calling, asking if there is a fire. His answer to all of them kind of says it all: "Go to bed, I will call you if there is a real fire" So this is the procedure for fire security they have, telling their guests to go back to sleep during an ongoing fire alarm!!!
All of us guests who had gathered in the reception asked him what his plan was, but he refused to call the fire brigade. We asked him if there was any fire alarm routines at all on the hotel, and he then explained that there was a routine which consisted of him checking all the rooms himself. First he said he had already checked the whole hotel himself - but later on it turned out he was lying as we asked him if he really had the time to check all the rooms. He proclaimed that he didn't want to angry the guests by waking them up, and said that "if you want to make them angry, you can go and knock all the doors".
He said it was probably someone smoking in the room, which of course was the possible cause. He said that he was "75% sure" of this, so I then asked him id this meant that it was 75% safe for us to go back to bed?
He seemed completely stressed out and clearly had no competence for handling the situation. I don't know the regulations in Ireland, but I'm completely sure that if a receptionist in Sweden told his guests to go back to sleep during an ongoing fire alarm, he would loose his job instantly.
The actions of the receptionist here shows a total lack of knowledge. I don't even dare to think of what would have happened if there would have been a real fire. For example, he also said that "I can go around and feel with my hands on some of the doors, if they are not hot then there is no fire".
I tried to ask him if he understood that if the door would be hot of fire, didn't he think that the people inside the room would already be dead in that case?
Well, to sum it up - a total lack of security and competence. They didn't offer any compensation for a whole night's loss of sleep. Will never stay here again.response / report this review -

Clean, nice little rooms. Ours was for 3 person and the space was small but we made do. The beds weren't comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Convenience of several little groceries close by made it less expensive to eat some meals in!! And then they kept our luggage after check out so we could enjoy a little more of Dublin before our late evening flight home!

Great little hotel. Staff is very friendly. Some rooms have nice views, some don't. Some rooms have nice bathrooms and some have tiny little showers. Overall, the location and staff friendliness makes this a gem to stay at.

Really liked this hotel! The staff are lovely and its in a great location! Only bad thing was the heat in the room (though on our 2nd night staff got us fans) and there's a sensor light in the room that goes on anytime you turn round in bed which isn't good when its waking you at 4am!

Staff are so homely and welcoming. The Hotel St.George is in an amazing location within walking distance to everywhere you would want to go in Dublin city center. Rooms are spotless and comfortable and rates are very resonable.This hotel is a perfect choice for your next stay in Dublin

Nice quaint hotel. Very friendly, helpful staff. The rooms are typical European rooms. It's nice that they have a coffee machine in the room. The bed was very comfortable. The room can be noisy as the walls are thin.
