If there was a possibility to give this place -10 stars I would. This place is a disgrace to the Irish tourism industry and should be shut down. The filth and dirt is insane. The showers are like something from a horror movie. Black bags lining the walls and a sheet of stainless steel with a hole cut in it to stand into. It was like they were ready to chop someone up in there. The beds are filthy with god knows what kind of stains on the sheets. The floors didnt even have a surfacing on them just the original floorboards from probably 100 years ago and all the window sills had cigarette burns and graffiti worn into them. The fact that these gangsters are allowed to remain open and take money from people is disgusting. Like other people here have said its like a brothel/junkie den..in fact those places would probably be cleaner and more well run than this place. Do yourself a favour and avoid this place like the plague. Dont give this place any more business or money. They should be locked up.
Where to begin.
Had to wait on the owner coming just so we could check in.
Rooms were filthy, dirty walls, floors caked in dirt and hair. Shower had a hole in the wall leading into the alley at the back. Dirty towels left on bathroom floor and we had to pay €2 for a fresh towel then ended up spending a further €8 for towels to shower with.
We went out for drinks and when we returned, we found a couple getting it on, IN MY BED!
Manager threw them out and apologised but refused to change the sheets. I had to sleep on the floor.
Absolute disgrace from start to finish!
No signage, looks like I brothel on out side. Felt ashamed going in with the state of the front of the building. Mats in room were soiled. No towels. 1flat cheap pillow. No air in room. No furniture. Fellows doing work on other room left tools and dirt every were to after them. Nearly triped few times going out the gate big board on front of gate. Don't stay here 119 euro my eye. No WiFi in room. Pictures on line are different. No one to tell you anything. Staff unwashed looking. Sorry now but the this is my honest review. Stay clear.
board on front of gate. No breakfast.
I stayed at the hostel with friends for one night in the four bed room on the lower floor. The noise level down there was unacceptable. The door to the outdoors area, the showers from above and people just normally walking above us were so loud it made sleeping almost impossible. Even worse the fire alarm went off three times in just one hour (around 11:00-11:30 pm) without anyone reacting to it. We only found out after explicitly asking that it was activated by people showering upstairs and nothing to worry about. How is that possible? We had an early flight to catch but sleeping was nearly impossible until 2am.
Also only very weak WiFi in common areas and thus not very useful even though the website makes you think otherwise.
The staff however was very friendly and helpful with questions.
All in all I would not recommend staying there no matter how close the location is to the city center.
The staff were absolutely atrocious. I will never ever stay there again. When we walked in the door the gentleman at reception asked for ID. We politely asked why they needed it and the man started shouting, cursing and abusing us. Telling us to go sleep on the f***ING Street. For fear that we would have nowhere to sleep we tried to calm the man down. He agreed to let us stay then told us the room was not ready. Check in was 2 o clock and we arrived at five. We then had to wait a half hour for the room to be ready. In the room the main light didn't work. The sheets were clean but the mattresses were ancient and falling apart. It smelled bad. The dart was right beside the hostel so we got absolutely no sleep. There was a communal outside area in which some guest kept revving a motorcycle at 7 in the morning. Staying here was genuinely upsetting. Please don't stay here. For your own sake.
If you like travelling and you do not need to stay in Dublin for a long stay, this hostel may be good for you. It's very closed to the city centre (about 10 mins on foot) and staff is friendly. Unfortunately, there is no laundry service in there and you have to move out for washing your clothes. Another little problem is the bathroom which is tiny and there are few showers and not all of them are warm and without something to put your shower gel on. ☺
Nice helpfull and friendly staff but lacks a bit in cleanlyness. Close to shopping and public transport. Cheap!
Staff are friendly, location is good, but that is not enough to save this place.
Bad facilities, bad wifi, bad price. Just a dumpy place. I feel cheated for paying $40 per night for substandard conditions, even for a hostel. If you absolutely have to stay here, I just hope that you really really like trains.
A place to rest your head rather than anything luxurious. Visited here as a group of friends and only really used the hostel to sleep, and it was fine. Wi-Fi not great in the room but adequate in the lounge area; coded doors rather than keys; and no lockers just large metal baskets to store suitcases. Kitchen and lounge facilities were okay and staff were friendly and polite. I'd say you get what you pay for though. Quite satisfied with our 4 night stay!
Negative: Water in the bedroom not working every time. Not super clean hostel.
Positive : close to center and open all night long
Nice place to stay if you are looking to a cheap way to visit Dublin for a few days. The personnel is really kind and the accommodations are great for the price.
Comfortable clean rooms. Helpful staff, in the centre of the city. Great place for foreign students to stay while visiting Dublin
Ok hostel, rooms were clean and the people were frenziedly, but the amenities were a little lacking. There were no outlets in the rooms to charge devices, and the WiFi was spotty in the living room kitchen area, and didn't even reach the rooms.
Worst hostel ever! Staff at reception is rude, saw the housekeeper getting the beds ready for 3 new guests and she changed pillows and blankets but not the sheets! She brushed the sheet with her hand as in one of them there was tobacco and that was it.slug in the shower, Beatles on the floor, after 3 nights the guy at reception wanted to kick me out at 2.20 am,woke me up shouting saying I wasn't supposed to be in this bed.morning after I found out his workmate made a mistake I didn't get apologiesonly 2 toilets and 2 3 showers for the building. Showers smell piss.Avoid this filthy hostel!
Very unclean place. Not sure if our room was cleaned in the past 6 month. Socks, paper, and other trash under the beds. Very nosy cause the tram passes in front of the window. Kitchen quite messy, and the fridge has almost no space. The stuff didn't aware us to put stickers on our food and didn't provide it. We just asked a marker. And I think we were the only ones using it cause the fridge was overloaded and there is never enough space. And..our breakfast and lunch was STOLEN! Showers and wc is another story. Very dirty. Just two showers in there?! Mold everywhere. Yes, its for a budget tourist but c'mon u can find more clean place for that price. Stuff more or less friendly but they don't really care to make your stay there nicer.
Pros - Very helpful and friendly staff made sure our bikes were secure round the back and offered me a key to the private bathroom for women. Also very cheap for budget travelers and good location for train and dock!
Cons - I didn't get a wink of sleep with the window stuck open and the train running right outside the window!
You get what you pay..
But still.. Facilities are rundown and not particularly clean.
The staff is nice but strictly correct and the atmosphere is far from cosy.
