This is the bridge that connect the Java and Madura Island. It was built during the 80s as to promote the economic advancement for Madura. China financed and assisted the mega bridge. It is also a tourist attraction here on the way to Madura trip.

Bangkalan Regency is a regency (Indonesian: kabupaten) of East Java province in Indonesia. The seat of its government is Bangkalan. The regency is located on the west side of Madura Island, bordering with Sampang Regency to the east, Java Sea to the north and Madura Strait to the west and the south sides. It covers an area of 1,001.44 km2, and had a population of 906,761 at the 2010 Census (an increase from 805,048 at the previous census in 2000); the latest official estimate (for January 2014) is 932,323. In 2009, the Suramadu Bridge was completed, being the first (toll) bridge ever to connect Java and Madura islands. The Suramadu Bridge is the longest bridge in Indonesia. Previously, Kamal port is the main gateway between Madura island and Java, where ferries serve the port with the Ujung portnearby Surabaya, but nowadays people prefer to travel across the toll bridge than using ferries, so now only a few ferries serve it in day time only.
Bangkalan Regency is included in the Gerbangkertosusila development regions, an extended region of Surabaya industrial areas.

The view from the bridge is very nice, also, the bridge is connecting from Surabaya to Madura Island, near the bridge there's some street vendors selling traditional foods too, you can try it out for a very cheap price!

It's a very important bridge, connecting Java island and Madura island. With this bridge, crossing Madura strait is a lot faster, compared to using the ferry. A bit windy at the center of the bridge, if you can't handle your vehicle, try to lower the speed. And please don't stop just to take pictures in the middle of the bridge, it's very annoying.

It's a 5,4 km bridge, connecting 2 island. That's it. First visit was exciting. Next one, just like passing thru a toll, make U-turn, and go back home thru the same road. I wish that the bridge will have more to come.

Nice Bridge. Sering banget kesini ngantar tamu (teman/keluarga) kalau datang ke Surabaya. Dulu motor masih banyar tol kalau mau nyebrang ke Madura sebesar Rp 3.000. Kalau sekarang sudah nggak bayar.

Are you one of those furtively took picture when passing over it? Totally it's not an admirable behavior. You got only a piece of blurred capture or a dull selfie. The coast of Madura Island is one of good point to have a full view of this awesome bridge. Exactly you can frame a panoramic landscape like I did.

A moment at Suramadu bridge. Strong, neat, clean bridge which connects Surabaya and Madura. The rule is you cant take photo here but i curi2 kesempatan lol 😄😅. Why did i do that ? Because i dont know when will i visit this beauty bridge again so i must be brave to take photo here although im not a criminal who likes obey the rule but for this time i must and promise i wont do that again next time. Basically it is a long bridge that connect two big islands in Indonesia, but I believe that driving or riding motorcycles here is a bit dangerous. It is harmful because the speed of the air may suddenly raise on the bridge. You can not stop here and have a photo shoot because it is a toll route. People drive and ride crazily very fast here.

Connects Surabaya and Madura. You can pass this bridge using car or bike. If you use a car, you have to pay toll charge. If you use a bike, there's no toll charge.

Longest bridge in South East Asia. You canpass through it for free if you are driving motorcycle. Awesome view at dusk or dawn.

Be aware if you are crossing this bridge on motorcycle, the road is narrow and sometimes there will be overwhelming wind coming from the side.

Even though the view is beautiful, stopping in the middle of the bridge is prohibited.
